As someone hooked on drugs, the doctor warned Manager Chu to be careful. Paula was already addicted, and the doctor thinks she needed rehabilitation because addicts can be dangerous.  2

Dangerous. 

Of course, Manager Chu was very much aware of what the doctor told her. However, she underestimated it, thinking Paula wouldn't act like those they see on the news. She believed Paula's addiction hadn't reached the severe point where she couldn't stop herself. After all, one of Paula's strong traits was discipline. 

Today, Manager Chu realized she had made a grave mistake today. 

Dragging her feet to the living room, Manager Chu couldn't help but gaze down. As she did, she caught some red stain in the grout between the tiles. It wasn't evident from the entryway due to the dim, warm light where she argued with Paula, but as she stepped on it, the floor felt a little sticky. 

'Please... let me be wrong.'Manager Chu closed her eyes for a moment, treading carefully as her thought grew more and more negative. 'I hope I find nothing huge in the living area.'

To be honest, Manager Chu couldn't think of what could be in the living area that Paula needed her help with. However, the sense of dread dominating her heart made her fear reaching their destination. Usually, it would only take several steps to go in there, but now, every passing second felt like several minutes.

'Please. I hope I find nothing...'Her thoughts trailed off as soon as Manager Chu stepped inside the living area. 

Her breath hitched, catching a figure from her peripheral vision. Manager Chu gulped, deluding herself that what she was seeing was just something that appeared a like pair of feet. However, when she turned her head, her heart stopped for a moment, just like her breath. Her eyes went wide and the color of her face drained almost instantly.

There, behind the couch, was a pair of feet. 

"Paula..." Manager Chu's voice shook, frozen on the spot. "Who — who is that?"

"Why don't you check?"

Manager Chu's face crumpled in both horror and surprise, looking back, only to see the murderous pair of languid eyes looking back at her. Paula had her arms crossed, leaning against the wall, jerking her chin to signal her manager to check. 

"Paula..." Tears formed in the corner of Manager Chu's eyes, getting even more scared now. "Please don't do this to me."

"I haven't even done anything to you yet," said Paula to Manager Chu. The emotions on her face disappeared. All was there was a remorseless monster ordering her manager to check the person she killed. 

"Go and see it for yourself, Manager Chu. Do it while I'm asking nicely. Please."

Manager Chu was almost chewing her bottom lip, confused at why Paula wanted her to see the person behind the couch. However, her fear of what the woman would do to her if she didn't listen compelled her to move. 

When Manager Chu got closer to the couch, she stretched her neck. The moment her eyes fell on the woman's face — even though most of the woman's hair was covering her face — she immediately recognized who it was. Her heart sank at the sight of Heaven and the blood clotting on her head.

"Paula… what did you do?" This time, the tears Manager Chu was holding back rolled down her cheek. 

It wasn't a tear of sadness, but rather, they were tears of dismay, disappointment, and disbelief. 

"It's her fault." Paula shrugged. "She wanted to ruin me even when I already said sorry, so I have to stop her."

"Stop her?" Manager Chu's voice thundered, teeth clenched, eyes bloodshot at Paula. "Your meaning of stopping her is to kill her?"

"It was an accident, okay?!" Paula defended in distress. "I begged her, Manager Chu! I even went down to my knees, but she — she is dead set on calling the police."

"Why?"

"Huh?"

"Why does Heaven want to call the police?"

Silence instantly set in the living area as the temperature perpetually dropped. Their eyes were fixed on one another. 

"What did you do to compel Heaven Liu to call the police?" Manager Chu repeated in a clear voice. "Paula, you have to tell me the truth! What happened between Heaven and you?!" 

Paula kept her lips shut, but the way her neck turned taut displayed her guilt. 

"Paula, oh my god." Manager Chu pinched the bridge of her nose, finding it difficult to process this situation. "I've always known you have anger issues, but… murder?"

She peeked up at Paula once again, running her tongue across her inner cheek, speechless. Paula wasn't the best person and her personality was outrageously disgusting. However, never in Manager Chu's wildest imagination had she ever thought Paula was capable of murder. 

"Oh, my god. Is she dead?" she asked after another long silence, checking Heaven once more. 

"She's not moving, so maybe?"

Manager Chu hissed as she glared at Paula once again. The latter didn't seem remorseful at what she had done, but maybe because she was high again. 

"Oh, please god." Manager Chu swallowed all the fear in her heart as she approached Heaven carefully. "Please, please, don't let her die."

As Manager Chu went to Heaven's side, Paula's face turned dark. 

What did Manager Chu say?

Paula dragged her feet near the couch to see what her manager was doing, only to catch Manager Chu reluctantly checking Heaven's pulse. Deep lines appeared between her brows, realizing she didn't check Heaven's pulse earlier. 

"She's dead," Paula asserted. "There's no need for you to —"

"No, she's not."

Huh?

Manager Chu slowly turned her head in Paula's direction, wide-eyed. "She still has a pulse, Paula. Heaven Liu isn't dead. Let's call an ambulance."

With this realization, Manager Chu hurriedly went through her bag. Because her entire body was trembling, she couldn't find her phone immediately. Meanwhile, Paula's face went blank at this news. 

'She's still alive?' she asked herself, eyes falling back to Manager Chu from Heaven. 'No. You can't do that.'

Knowing calling for an ambulance to save Heaven was akin to Paula's death sentence, Paula's vision turned red. She marched towards Manager Chu and grabbed the same trophy that knocked Heaven unconscious. 

"Paula, it seemed I forgot my phone. Can you let me borrow your…" Manager Chu trailed off when she looked up, eyes going wide at what was going to happen. Before she could even process it, the trophy hit her head, knocking her out almost instantly.
