"You can't live, Heaven."2

"I'm sorry, but you can't live."

"I'm really sorry to you and Dad. Dad is probably sad, so he'll be happy if you join him."

"What — why is she kissing me?" Heaven panicked, watching how Paula showed her genuine affection while speaking such a sinister farewell. "What is she going to do?"

"She's going to finish the job."

Heaven gasped in horror, eyes wide as she turned her head to Hera. Both of them stood near the body's head, watching Paula express her twisted and complicated love for her friend. Hera's jaw was tight and her eyes burned, watching Paula move the trophy in the unconscious Manager Chu's hand. 

"I can't die." Hera's voice shook just like her tight fists. "Not now, not never!" 

Hera desperately stepped into her body, ignoring Paula's actions as she simply wanted to return to this body. If she returned, she could still defend herself. However, if she didn't or if there was no interference, this body would be dead for sure. All her hopes of returning to the body would disappear without a trace. 

"Hera..." Heaven called worriedly, watching Hera desperately step on the body in an attempt to return to it. She bit her lips, catching the desperation in Hera's eyes as if her mind and heart were slowly crumbling every millisecond. 

Hera really wanted to live. She wanted to return. 

It was a shame that Heaven couldn't share the same sentiments. Even though they were currently nothing but spirits, she could feel Hera's emotions. But Heaven... the only feeling she felt ever since she became like this was the time she discovered what Paula did to her father.

"No, no, no!" Hera's voice thundered, almost making Heaven flinch. "Don't you dare, Paula Shen!!"

When Paula raised the trophy that was within Manager Chu's grip, Hera continuously yelled and jumped into the body. Meanwhile, Heaven could only stand there, frozen. 

'Leave everything to fate,' Heaven recalled Hera's words moments ago. 'Just like you had always down in situations like this, you leave the fate of your life to those people you surrounded yourself with.'

Was Hera wrong? 

Would the people she surrounded herself with could save her tonight?

Time seemed to stop for Heaven, watching Paula swing the trophy down while Hera desperately tried to return to her body. Heaven held her breath as everything moved in slow motion with Hera's shouting growing distant. 

"No...!!!" Hera froze, shouting her lungs out as Paula tried to finish the job. 

DING DONG!

Paula stopped with the trophy inches from Heaven's head, flinching at the sudden noise penetrating the eerie silence. Meanwhile, the two souls had their mouths and eyes wide open. 

Even though Hera was a soul, she felt cold sweats seeping deep into her bones and out of her pores. Her knees felt weak before she collapsed on her knees. Meanwhile, Heaven blinked and blinked, darting her eyes to Paula and then to Hera. 

DING DONG!

"Who is that?" the continuous ringing of the doorbell brought Paula back to reality. 

DING DONG!

Paula turned her head, brows furrowed. Did the nurse come to remove her IV Drip? That question was the first thing that crossed Paula's mind.

"No," she whispered, putting down the trophy to check the person outside. If it was the nurse, Paula knew she was running out of time. 

She planned to frame Manager Chu, after all. If the nurse meets Paula tonight, then Paula would be a suspect in this crime. 

"What do I do?" Paula darted her eyes between Manager Chu and Heaven, securing the trophy in the former's hand in a panic. 

DING DONG! DING DONG! DING DONG!

The increasing frequency of the doorbell made her heart panic even more, making her adrenaline pump even faster. Paula then hurriedly got up from her position, staggering back, eyes on the unconscious body behind the couch. 

"Manager Chu," she called, kicking Manager Chu to wake her up. Unlike how she struck Heaven, Paula actually held back because she intended to knock her manager unconscious, not kill her. But Manager Chu didn't wake up. 

DING DONG!

"Damn it!" Paula ground her teeth, glaring daggers at the entryway. "Are nurses supposed to be this aggressive?"

Paula marched toward the monitor attached to the wall to check the person outside the door. She believed all this time it was the nurse, but the moment she saw the person standing outside her doorstep, coldness immediately embraced her bones. 

Dominic Zhu.

DING DONG!

"No." Paula instinctively staggered back, clutching her chest to calm her racing heart. The sight of Dominic Zhu made her heart race faster than it ever had before to the point it was painful, as if it would going to break free from her ribcage. 

"What is he doing here?" she asked herself, clasping her hair in distress. "Why is he…"

Paula trailed off as Dominic took a step back from the door. Annoyance was evident on his face, slipping his hand inside his suit pocket. The moment Paula caught him fishing his phone out and speed-dialing someone, her eyes went wide. 

RING!!

A loud ringing noise instantly pierced through the quiet air of the condominium unit, like a loud clap in front of her ear. All the colors on her face drained as Dominic gazed at the door. 

RING!

"No," Paula breathed out, dashing to the source of the sound. Heaven's bag was still on the side of the entryway, and Paula didn't find any reason to be discreet in her movements. She flipped Heaven's bag to find the phone immediately, and she did.

RING!

Paula didn't think twice as she pressed the end call button without a second hesitation. She then turned it off, clutching the phone closer to her chest while lifting her shaking eyes to the door before her. 

'What am I going to do?' she asked herself, knowing she was inches from her doom if she didn't do anything about it. 

Meanwhile, as Paula was thinking of ways to salvage her crumbling plans, Heaven and Hera had their eyes on the doorbell monitor mounted on the wall. 

"Dom…" Hera's voice sounded muffled as she bit her lips, heaving a sigh of relief. 

Meanwhile, Heaven held her breath as she gazed at Dominic on the monitor. She then slowly lowered her eyes to Hera, gulping the building tension in her throat. 

'She was right.'

[FLASHBACK]

"Hmm!" Heaven tried peeling the fingers that were firmly wrapped around her neck, kicking her feet as she struggled to breathe. Her face turned red, eyes going wide at the person's silhouette hovering over her. 

The dark spots in her vision slowly spread until darkness embraced her tightly. Before losing consciousness, Heaven knew it was her end. That was why when she regained her consciousness, deep lines instantly appeared between her brows.

She slowly opened her eyes, only to see the same ceiling she used to stare at for the past five years. 

"It was... a dream, huh?" she whispered, touching her neck as she could somehow still feel the pressure on it. 'I thought it was real... what a shame.'

Heaven closed her eyes as she drew a deep breath. When she reopened her eyes, her body stiffened. From her peripheral vision, a person was staring at her and this person was just right beside her — lying right beside her!

"No." Her entire body froze upon hearing a woman's seductive voice, turning her head to face a gorgeous lady smirking. "It's not a dream, Heaven Liu. You're dead... sort of."

Hera was just lying on her side on the same bed with her temple resting on her knuckles, donning a beautiful red dress. The curl of her lips made her appear cunning, and the glow in her eyes almost left Heaven breathless.

What a stunning goddess.
