Reliving the nightmare of losing her

"Where's that damn clown?"2

"Huh?"

Gray furrowed his brows as he processed Bear's inquiry. "Bear, what are you — woah!" he gasped as he felt Bear's grip tighten around his collar despite Fig's hand wrapped around Bear's wrist.

"Where is that damn clown, Gray?" Bear repeated under his breath. "Tell me if you don't want to get hurt."

Gray blinked, confused. Not just him, but Fig and Tiger looked at Bear with knitted brows. Assessing Bear's temperament right now, they could tell the old man was pissed — furious, even.

"Oy, old man, what the fuck?" Tiger frowned. "Why are you acting like this? And why are you looking for that fucking cunt?"

"Don't tell me it's because you want to beat him up because you're frustrated at the death of the young madam?"

Bear's breath hitched at Fig's question, making his grip on Gray's collar tighten. The aura emanating from his back exuded a darker shroud.

Death.

Until now, Bear had refused to believe those words. There was no way Heaven, or rather, Hera, would die in the hands of Paula. Hera could've easily overpowered Paula. She wouldn't even sweat. Bear wanted to believe this was just another Andrea Ng case.

Hera surely planned all of this. She allowed Paula Shen to strike her for a reason.

But alas… Bear saw her head injury.

Hera might allow someone to shoot her, or she would take a bullet if left with no choice, but she had always protected her vital points. She learned much about human anatomy that she knew which part of her body she needed to protect in a fight or a shootout.

That head injury was fatal. He knew that at one glance, but denied it as he assisted Dane in cooperating with the police. Hearing that Heaven was pronounced dead was something Bear was still denying, even at this every second.

"Yes," Bear breathed out, lowering his shaking eyes. "I am not only frustrated, but I will kill him."

"Bear, I know you've been following that woman —" Tiger nearly bit his tongue as soon as Bear set his glinting eyes on him. He raised his hand over his shoulders, displaying a sign of surrender.

"She has a name, Tiger." Bear ground his teeth, speaking through them. "Don't overstep once again."

"What?" Tiger frowned, but he didn't argue with the man. Knowing Bear's current mood, things wouldn't end well if they argue with him.

"Now, Gray, tell me. Where is this bastard?" Bear scoffed at Tiger one last time before setting his eyes down on the youth-looking bodyguard. "There's no need for you to hide him, Gray. This thing about us is been long overdue. I'll kill tonight."

Gray pursed his lips into a thin line while his stiff shoulders relaxed. Looking at Bear right now, it reminded him of what this old man was like when they lost Hera. Bear was always composed and cool, but he turned crazy and unstable when Hera died.

And because of this, the three were reminded of that day they lost the most important person in their lives.

"I don't like how you are acting, Bernard," Gray expressed, upset. "It really irks me and leaves a sour taste in my mouth. She's not her. Get a fucking grip."

'You guys… don't know a thing.' Bear bit his tongue to prevent himself from saying those words.

"I'm with Gray with this one," said Tiger, bearing a deep frown. "If you're sad, then don't drag us in it just to remind us about that day you fucking agreed to her stupid wish."

"Bear, let him go, man," Fig backed up, evidently pissed at the old folk. "This is not worth fighting."

All of their answers were something that brought this inexplicable anger into Bear's heart. However, instead of throwing a huge fit, Bear kept his teeth clenched. He glanced at Fig who was still holding on to his wrist, and then he glanced over his shoulder to where Tiger stood, before setting his eyes on Gray, whom he was holding by the collar.

Deep in Bear's heart, he was relieved.

At least, these three… didn't have to go through what he was going through right now for the second time. After all, aside from him, these three grieved for Hera just as much as he did. They didn't have to go through this nightmare again.

'Is this the reason she didn't want to tell them?' Bear wondered as the bitterness in his heart grew deeper. However, he needed to do something with this pain before it completely consume him. He needed a distraction.

"Tell me…" Bear breathed out, slowly letting Gray go. "... where is he?"

"Why are you looking for him?" Gray inquired as he dusted off his uniform, not taking Bear's aggressiveness to heart. Fig also released Bear's wrist, curiosity apparent on his face.

"He tampered with evidence." Bear kept his answer short and precise. "I doubt it was the manager. Someone else struck her, and I will not stop until I get my hands on her."

"Just kill her." Tiger clicked his tongue in annoyance, scratching the back of his head as he looked around their surrounding in case someone was listening to their conversation.

"No." Bear breathed out, eyes on Gray. "Please, Gray. I needed to know where the man was."

Gray pressed his lips into a thin line, assessing the look on the man's face. 'He needed a distraction, huh? Well, I don't like Joker.'

"Damn it. I don't know where he was," said Gray with a sigh. "But I can track him down for you. After all, he had grown a habit of leaving trails as if he always wants someone to find him. Though I need an hour or so."

"But don't tell him I was the one who told you his whereabouts," Gray added in a panic. "Promise that."

"Yes." Bear calmed down.

"Then wait for me here." Gray smacked his lips and turned his head toward Tiger. "Tiger, can you help me…"

Tiger had his eyes narrowed in a direction and, without saying anything, he waved as he walked away. "Go on your own. I'll have a cigarette break."

"Huh?" Gray blinked, watching Tiger jog away, but didn't think about it.

"I'll come with you," said Bear, not thinking much about Tiger's action.

And with that being said, Bear and Gray left to hunt down the person who had tampered with the crime evidence, leaving Fig in their post. Meanwhile, Tiger lit up a cigarette, following some familiar faces who shouldn't be in this place.
