Needs to get better ASAP

Meeting the in-laws was an inevitable situation a couple faced throughout their marriage. Heaven knew that the first time she tagged along with Dominic when Grandma Zhu fainted at the news of their divorce. It was one of the reasons she strategically chose to be close to Axel.  1

"Sis, hehe." Axel giggled as he put a piece of meat on her plate.

"Thank you." Heaven smiled at him before he scurried back to his seat. 

Butler Fu, Grandma Zhu's assistant, set up a table out of nowhere in the private ward. There, Grandma Zhu, Lionel Zhu, Ria Zhu, and Axel were eating. Since Heaven was told to rest, she ate on the bed with her son, Sebastian. 

"Mommy, you should eat more, so you get better very soon." Sebastian blinked, looking up at her with his doe eyes. 

Her smile stretched a bit. "Yes, here, have more, Basti." 

Heaven placed a piece of carrot on her son's plate that was placed on the over-the-bed table. Sebastian unhesitatingly took the piece of vegetable into his mouth, making his mother smile even more. 

As Sebastian ate heartily to reassure his mother he was being a good boy, Heaven peeked at the round table near the bed. Everyone was eating with Madam Zhu, her mother-in-law, habitually putting food on Axel's plate.

'They're treating him like a child,' she thought, but not surprised since Axel was the youngest. It was given they spoiled him rotten and thus, explained his childish side. 

"You should eat slowly, Axel," scolded Ria in a soft voice. "There's a lot of food, so there's no rush."

"Hehe. It's because I haven't eaten anything last night. Also, Grandma, when's the last time did you cook?" Axel inquired while chewing, making Grandma Zhu frown. 

"Butler Fu, do you think this boy needs to relearn table manners?" Grandma Zhu narrowed her eyes at Axel, displeased that this boy never learned the proper table etiquette.

Everyone in the family knew that Grandma Zhu hated it when people make too much noise while eating, yet Axel kept doing it. 

"At this point, I think the second young master is doing it on purpose." Butler Fu maintained a wide smile, pouring Axel's glass with cold juice. 

"Butler Fu, that's slander!" Axel spat out. "Grandma, I'm just that happy to eat your dishes again! You only do when you send some food over to my brother's house. How about me?"

"Hmp! Get married then!"

"No!"

"Then stop asking for food deliveries from me!" Grandma Zhu grumpily clicked her tongue, holding her cane as she tried to stand up. 

"Mom —"

"Don't bother me and take care of that boy. Teach him some manners as well — I can't stand him." Grandma Zhu waved dismissively while Butler Fu dropped everything he was doing to assist her to stand. "I'm going to check little Heaven."

Lionel, who was half-standing to assist his mother, slowly sat down. Worry filled his eyes, watching Grandma Zhu walk to the bed where Heaven was. He then glanced at the woman on the bed, offering a brief smile to Heaven, only to receive a slight bow from her. 

"I'm okay now. Don't mind me." Grandma Zhu waved her cane slightly as she took a seat beside the bed. The grumpiness on her face instantly disappeared as she faced Heaven. 

"Little Heaven, how do you like the food?" she asked with a warm smile. "Was it too salty?"

"No, Grandma. They were really good."

"That's a relief then." Grandma Zhu chuckled, nodding in satisfaction. "Then go ahead and eat until you're full. Don't worry about me."

"Yes." Heaven pressed her lips, still smiling. She took another small bite, casting Sebastian a look. 

Although she maintained a polite and gentle demeanor, she was observing her mother- and father-in-law from the corner of her eyes. Ever since meeting them last night until now, Ria and Lionel barely spoke a few words to her. 

They only expressed their relief about her condition, but remained on the side afterward. 

'Right…' she thought, chewing her food as slow as a cow. 'They were acting like this because they still think I was the Heaven they used to know.'

From what Heaven knew, Axel and Dominic kept her distant relationship with Dominic a secret for the past five years. Axel might run his mouth recklessly, but for his brother's sake, he kept his mouth shut as long as he could. 

Therefore, her parent-in-law didn't know about that troublesome past. That was a minus to her troubles. Still, those two were keeping their distance, for very obvious reasons. They didn't want to overwhelm Heaven because the daughter-in-law they knew was timid and was easily overwhelmed. 

'Even so, this is an opportunity,'Heaven told herself, keeping her eyes on her plate while forking out another piece of meat that landed on her plate. 'An opportunity… let's see if Axel's usefulness — why is it that no matter how I eat, the food on my plate doesn't seem to decrease?'

Heaven blinked and blinked, realizing she had more food now on her plate than a moment ago. When she raised her head, all she saw were Axel and Grandma Zhu, grinning back at her. 

"Eat well, sis." Axel's eyes were squinting until they look like mere curve lines. "Grandma rarely cooks now, so let's eat a lot!"

After saying his piece, Axel ran back to his seat. Ria and Lionel smiled subtly at him before turning their attention to Heaven. There was still this distance in the way they smiled, but it was obvious they wouldn't mind taking things slowly with her. 

"Hehe. Little Heaven, how about you try this one? It's good for recovering strength. Ria used to be sickly, but I just fed her more of this, so she gets better." Grandma Zhu giggled, gesturing for Heaven to eat the other dish she hadn't touched yet. "Isn't that right, Ria?"

Ria Zhu's eyes lit up at Grandma Zhu's remarks, grinning. "Yes, Heaven. That soup works like magic."

"That's right. You should eat plenty and replenish your energy," Lionel didn't miss the chance to comment, all smiles. 

Heaven glanced at Grandma Zhu and then her parent-in-law. Her eyes softened as her heart felt warm, noticing that Sebastian and Axel were also looking at her with the same affection as the elders. 

'I guess I didn't need to do anything at all,' she told herself, happily eating what was given to her. 

However, Heaven soon realized why her mother-in-law recovered from her unhealthy days. 

'She has to, doesn't she? She didn't have a choice!' Heaven told herself as she gazed at her still-full plate in horror. 'If she didn't get better, they'll just keep feeding her until she explodes!'
