"Miss Liu, I know this is hard for you, but we have two suspects here." The detective's voice snapped Heaven back to the current lapse. He sat on the chair near the bed where Heaven was reclining, glancing at the man sitting across from him and beside his wife. 

"It's strange that Miss Shen voluntarily confessed, only to take everything back the next morning. However, everything she said somehow matched Manager Chu's statements. Moreover, according to our investigations, there were many holes in Paula Shen's statement," explained the detective, referring to the IV Paula had that night. 

According to Paula, the reason she didn't have an IV that night was that she run out of the room because of the commotion. However, upon inspection, the investigators found it very suspicious. If Paula ran out that night, it was only natural that the IV pole fell due to her rash actions. The IV pole was kept in place.

"However, aside from this evidence, there were many things that we had no answers," he continued solemnly, eyes on Heaven. "For instance, the footage of Manager Chu leaving the building and the first medical reports regarding Miss Shen's condition."

"Did you do another laboratory test?" Heaven peeled her eyes from the table on her lap to the detective.

"Yes." The detective nodded. "Miss Shen was intoxicated with some drugs. We're still analyzing the drugs in her system, so I can't give you further details. However, what I can say with certainty is that she was under the influence when she attacked you. Adding to that, this drug might've triggered her bipolar disorder."

Heaven drew a deep breath as she took in the information carefully. This was the first time she would be working with the police, as she was used to taking matters into her hands. Even though she placed people in different government agencies, this was the first she would do things legally. 

"It's okay, love." Heaven snapped her eyes up at the owner of the hand that held hers. "Just say if you aren't ready. They won't be able to force you."

Her lips pressed, smiling at Dominic. 

"I'm okay." She squeezed his hand before setting them back to the officer. "Everything in this confession is true, detective. She probably deleted her message, but my husband and Mr. Zhang can vouch she sent an unsettling message last night that compelled me to rush to her place. My husband dropped me off."

"That's right." Dominic rocked his head.

"When I arrived in Paula's place, she was trying to take her life."

"She did?" the detective furrowed his brows. 

"She was faking it." Heaven let out a deep exhale. "Paula was very unstable last night and aggressive. I tried cutting ties with her for taking suicide a light matter, but just before I leave, she taunted me."

Her expression grew solemn. "She taunted me with my dad's death, and then she slipped up. Her desire to break me led her to confess how she smothered him to death." 

Heaven slowly clasped her hand until the blanket over her legs creased. For once, she wanted to trust the authorities in catching the person who killed Heaven's father. She could let Paula's attempt slide, if not for the fact she nearly disappeared from this world. 

"The pain… she had caused me and my family…" her eyes brimmed with unforgiveness. "... don't let her walk away, Detective. I am putting my unbending trust in your hand. Please don't break it."

"I will do my best." The detective smiled. "Will you be willing to testify?"

This time, concern filled Dominic's eyes. He cast his wife a quick look, wanting to reassure her of safety. However, when his gaze landed on her, Dominic's voice rolled back to his throat. 

Heaven didn't need some word of courage. His wife was dead set on making Paula pay for her crime.

"Just so you know, Miss Liu, this will be a distressing matter. Even though you're not the culprit, you will have to face the person who hurts you. That is already distressing enough," the detective said. "However, to make sure she wouldn't go walk away free or get transferred to a mental facility, we need you."

A mental facility. 

Right. 

That was how some criminals would do if they knew they were out of options. With Paula's medical condition, her lawyers would surely do everything they could to make her look insane. 

'They didn't have to, though,'she thought. 'That amount of drugs in her system and what sort of drug it is… she didn't have to pretend. She'll eventually lose her mind, especially once her itch kicks in.'

"Yes." Heaven nodded with no sign of hesitation. "I'll testify against her. However, I have a request."

The detective furrowed his brows. "A request?"

"I want full confidential about my identity."

"Huh?"

"I do not want my life and my family to be in the center of the circus." Heaven shifted her eyes to Dominic. "And that I don't want to be remembered as a victim of an attempted murder."

She slowly faced the detective again. "Is that possible?"

"Well…" the detective fumbled with his hands while rocking his head. "We'll try."

"I will order an information lockdown." This time, Dominic chimed in, warranting the officer's and Heaven's attention. "Even so, I will only order privacy for the victim's identity. Aside from that, I won't interfere because I want everyone to remember Paula Shen is a murderer. I hope you won't mind that, Detective."

The detective assessed the determined look on Dominic's face and sighed. Surely, the Zhu Family was powerful enough to stop information from going public, and he was certain this was nothing. Dominic could do more; it was already considerate of him he wasn't interfering with the police. 

"Very well." The detective smacked his lips, opening his palm to gesture to Heaven to give him back the tablet. "I'll be in touch."

Heaven handed him back the tablet while saying, "Thank you, detective. You'll get more evidence soon."

"Huh?" The detective furrowed his brows, only to receive a kind smile from her. 

Heaven's last remarks left a gigantic question mark over the detective's head, but he didn't think much about it. She could be just wishing him luck. However, not long after he left the ward, her words came true.
