Happiest
The past two months were chaotic for everyone. Not just for Paula, but also for Heaven and the Zhu family. Although the Zhu family's concern was more on how Heaven would hold up throughout the trial. Fortunately, she did 'pretty well.' They thought everything would go back to normal when Paula was sentenced to life in prison, only to be surprised when she requested to meet Paula for the last time. 1
Dominic was strongly against it, but when did he say no to his wife?
In the end, Heaven still got what she wanted. She met Paula privately and afterward, took Dominic and Sebastian to the Columbarium, where Heaven's father lies.
"Baby, say hi to your grandpa." Heaven carried Sebastian so he could see her father's storage.
Sebastian pursed his lips, gazing at the wide and long storage with transparent glass to see through the urn and some things inside. There were a few pictures inside of his mother in her younger years and a jolly-looking man. Some photos displayed Heaven looking more mature, but the vibe it gave was light.
Heaven and her father looked happy in all of them.
"Hello, Grandpa." Sebastian politely lowered his head. "My name is Sebastian Zhu, and I'm honored to meet you."
Heaven couldn't help but chuckle at how formal her son was. She glanced at Dominic standing beside her, only to see him side-eyeing them.
"Basti," she called, setting her attention back to her son. "What do you think of Grandpa?"
"I think he's someone who's always happy."
Her eyes softened as she nodded. "He was."
Heaven slowly set her eyes on the man's portrait inside the niche, smiling subtly. Even though she didn't know this man personally, the memories the original Heaven had with this man were too precious. Just from these memories, she could understand why Heaven loved her father so much.
"Dad was always worried I will not have a family of my own," she muttered, keeping her eyes on the smiling portrait. "But now, I can finally say he shouldn't be worried anymore."
Sebastian gazed at his mother's soft countenance, wrapping his arms around her neck. When Heaven looked at him, he sported the biggest smile he could ever offer to her.
"I think Grandpa was a great guy! I'm happy to meet Grandpa." The little master turned his head to his grandpa. "Grandpa, don't worry about Mommy anymore. Basti will take care of her and love her very much!"
"Basti..." Heaven trailed off as she caught Dominic lowering his head.
"I'm sorry for only visiting you now, Father. Many things happened in the past few months, and I promise you I will take care of your daughter much better this time. Don't worry. I'll do my best so that she will be happy every second of her life."
'Dom...'Heaven pressed her lips into a thin line, eyes softening as their words and gesture warmed up her heart. She smacked her lips, huffing, as she faced the portrait once again.
"Dad, I'm sorry that I only visited you now after a long time. I know you've always been worried about me, and I also know it took me some time to bring my son and husband to meet you. But..." The corner of her mouth curled up subtly, yet the happiness in her eyes glowed. "... I am in good hands. I am at the happiest stage of my life."
Heaven didn't know this man to bear such affection in her eyes. However, through him, she could speak her heart that was meant to her real parents. Also, for the original Heaven's peace of mind and soul. After all, that was Heaven's last wish. That was for Sebastian to know her father and how lovely of a man he was.
"I will visit you regularly," she said with a smile, and Sebastian chimed in.
"I will come too!"
"Me too," said Dominic. "As many times as I can."
Heaven cast the two of them a look while Dominic faced his wife and son.
"Let me carry him," he offered, only for Sebastian to hug his mother tightly.
"I'll stay with Mom!"
"Basti…"
"It's okay." Heaven hugged her son, smiling at Dominic. "It's been a while since I was allowed to carry him, so let me."
Reluctance flickered across Dominic's eyes before he sighed. "Just for now."
"Stingy." Sebastian pouted, glaring at his father. Meanwhile, Heaven simply chuckled, since she knew her husband wouldn't do anything later, anyway.
Throughout the two months of trial, Heaven regularly visited the hospital for checkups. She only stayed in the hospital for a week after the incident, before she was given permission to go home. Still, for Dominic's and her in-laws' peace of mind, Heaven had to return to the hospital for checkups.
Her life was a bit stricter than before, and her meals were closely monitored. She didn't mind, though. If doing this would put everyone's heart at ease, then she didn't mind. It wasn't like they took her freedom away.
Heaven turned her head back to the portrait, but this time, her eyes fell on the other picture. The photo of the original Heaven and her father. Her eyes settled on the original Heaven's grinning face.
"I hope you're at peace now," she whispered from the bottom of her heart. "Thank you."
'Thank you, Heaven Liu, for doing the right thing in the end.' Her lips stretched into a smile, nodding at the original Heaven's picture reassuringly. 'I promise you that this face… will always be happy. I don't promise perfection, but what I can reassure you is that I will love and treasure this life the way you wished you had.'
Heaven lowered her head, paying respect to both Heaven and her father. After a moment of silence, she raised her head and turned to her son and husband. Both Sebastian and Dominic were smiling subtly at her.
"Let's go?" she asked while her lips stretched until she was grinning. "I heard an amusement park just opened up today. Should we try it?"
"Yes!" Sebastian unhesitatingly cheered. "Family day!"
"Of course." Dominic maintained a subtle smile, nodding. "Let's go."
With that being said, the family of three went to spend the day together. Their hearts were full, grateful, content, and simply overflowing with love and joy for another day as a family.
She had nothing else to wish for. But if she was to make one, that was all the days would continue this way. Hopefully.
