[Bonus chapter] A subtle habit

BANG!1

"Man... she's hopeless."

Bear glanced to his side as Tiger was stretching his neck, checking Heaven's target curiously. Tiger clicked his tongue continuously, making Bear drift his gaze to Heaven.

'She missed on purpose,' thought Bear, studying Heaven's stance. 'Why, though?'

Those who knew Heaven, or the person who was now inside Heaven's body, would know she would never miss those targets. Hera was taught how to handle guns at a very young age, and her mentors were legends in the underworld. Her mother was the best assassin in her generation, while her father was a powerful don.

It wasn't a surprise Hera had a soft spot for weapons.

Hera even had a collection of different weapons. She had a room filled with such. She was so fond of her toys that all of them carried special bullets that had her initials on them.

In other words, Bear knew that she was purposely missing her targets right now. But why?

Bear got his answer almost immediately, though.

Dominic walked closer to his wife, telling her some things, which made Heaven grin.

'I should've known,' Bear thought, snapping his eyes to Tiger.

"This is painful to watch." Tiger scratched the back of his head, a bit annoyed at the things unfolding in front of his eyes. "All of them are hopeless."

"That woman isn't bad," said Bear, tipping his head in Ivy's direction.

Tiger arched a brow, glancing in Ivy's direction, only to scrunch his nose up. "She's bad." — how could Bear not see that?

"She's good, considering she was just playing target shooting." Bear shrugged, clarifying his remarks. 'Though I'm sure she never shot a person.'

"I thought something interesting will happen." Tiger threw his hands in the air, linking his hands behind his head. "I should've partnered with Fig so I can lean on him to sleep."

"You should always stay on your guard, Tiger." Bear shook his head, standing straight in his stance. "You're guarding a very important person. Don't forget that. Anything can happen."

Tiger scoffed, rolling his eyes. "Well, you are right. Dominic Zhu is a very important figure, and someone like him is a magnet for trouble."

Bear kept his lips into a tight slash, casting his colleague a side-eye. That wasn't what or who he was referring to, but, well, Dominic was indeed an important figure. Moreover, since Hera was now living in Heaven, they didn't need to worry about her original enemies.

If anything, they had to be mindful of those who wanted to take down Dominic Zhu.

"Tiger," called Bear, making Tiger's brows elevate. "Be careful."

"Huh?"

Bear slowly faced the man squarely. "I don't like how you've been acting recently. I know you're not the best person nor the kindest, but Dominic Zhu is your current boss. We're working for him now, so the least I expect from you is to not sacrifice the man who is paying you for his safety."

"That's so random." Tiger frowned. "But what will you do if somehow I put him in danger?"

"I don't need to do anything, but that's something you won't want to happen." Bear slowly set his eyes back to Heaven, seeing that she was going for another round. He narrowed his eyes, studying Heaven's stance now.

Although Heaven seemed she was simply standing and holding the gun with such carefulness, the air of confidence she exuded reminded Bear of how she was in the past.

'No matter how she conceals it, she still makes me wonder if she's going to shoot me or not,' he thought, knowing Heaven wasn't looking in his direction. Even so, she didn't need to have her head turned in their direction to know his standpoint.

'She's always been like that,' he told himself, recalling how she was in the past. 'Even without looking, she could put a hole in between someone's brows if she wanted to. I guess I was worried for nothing. She hadn't forgotten how to hold weapons.'

Bear rocked his head in satisfaction. His heart was now at ease at the stance he was seeing.

Meanwhile, Tiger furrowed his brows as he studied Bear from the corner of his eyes. The latter seemed proud for some reason, making him follow where Bear was staring. As soon as he did, his eyes fell on Heaven.

'What's so good about her that the old folk seem very proud?' he wondered, narrowing his eyes as Heaven stretched her neck from one side to the other.

Heaven was still holding the gun with both hands. It was obvious she was being careful about it. However, the more Tiger observe her, the lines between his brows deepened.

'Huh?' Tiger gazed at Heaven from up and down, noticing her relaxed stance. 'That's weird. She looks like this is her first time, but she got a good stance, unlike that other girl.'

BANG!

Tiger's mouth curved down as his eyes instantly slide to the target the second she pulled the trigger.

"It's missed," he blurted out under his breath, but this time, he noticed something. "Was that miss intentional?"

This time, Bear glanced at him but kept his mouth shut.

Obviously, it was intentional, was what Bear wanted to tell his colleague. However, there was no need to say that.

"I missed again!" Heaven's disheartened voice reached both bodyguards' vantage points, making the two (Tiger and Bear) look in her direction. Dominic already walked to her side, smiling, and still praising her despite her failure.

Heaven still held the pistol in her hand, swaying it to her side, muzzle down. For some reason, Tiger's eyes fell on her grip. His brows knitted again, noticing how her index rub the side of the pistol, which reminded him of someone who had the same habit.

"She's rubbing it," he muttered, earning Bear's attention again. "Why?"

Bear pressed his mouth, shifting his attention to Heaven's hand. He instantly caught Heaven doing an old subtle habit.

'Uh…' Bear blinked, looking at Tiger once again. The latter had a deep frown as if he disliked what he had just seen. 'It's been a while since she held a gun. I should tell her unless she wants Tiger to start digging.'

If Bear somehow found out about Heaven, for sure, Tiger would. After all, Tiger and Hera had this strong relationship. Others saw him as her vicious hellhound, but they were more than that. For Hera, Tiger was like a brother.

A crazy, zealous brother, who made her already non-existent dating life even more impossible for Hera.
