Guessing is such a hassle
The argument was a little petty, and that only escalated because of Axel's and Jeremy's childish traits. Although Dominic rode along with the argument, bringing his wife to the table was something he was so against with. However, it was already too late for him to change his mind since Jeremy Li, William Chen, and Ivy Wei were dead set on burning his pockets today. 1
As if those three needed money.
Surprisingly enough, Kaiden Wang betted on Heaven. When asked about it, his only answer was his preferences. It was a habit of his on betting on the underdog.
And thus, explained the current situation of the group.
"Sis, you can do it! Don't let those pricks step on our family's honor!" Axel cheered, making Heaven's already dead countenance look even more lifeless. "I believe in you."
"Axel, can you move aside?" Dominic cast his brother a side-eye, taking a step and pushing Axel to the side. Standing before Heaven, Dominic let out a deep exhale.
"I'm sorry we dragged you into this childish betting." He reached for her hands, eyes fixed on her. "Don't worry. Whatever the results were, I'm always proud of you."
Dominic smiled subtly, cupping his wife's beautiful face. "I believe in you."
"It's okay." Heaven huffed quietly, staring at Dominic before casting Axel a quick look. "Axel, you should stop messing with people."
"They're the ones who messed with me!" Axel defended. "And to my brother as well! Did you know they even said you'd leave me and my brother if we keep acting up? They're the ones who are asking for it."
'In my own honest opinion, they were simply provoking you.' Heaven mentally sighed, in utter disbelief even Dominic fell for this provocation. 'They simply want to get some money from you without outright robbing you.'
"Well..." Heaven shrugged lazily, as she didn't really mind this outcome. Not that she could change it, anyway. "... I will try my best."
She smacked her lips, brows raised, eyes on Dominic. "I'm up against a pro, so all I can say is I will do my best."
"That's okay." Dominic nodded, smiling. "Don't worry. You don't have to win."
"You're already a winner in our hearts, sis!"
Heaven and Dominic glanced at Axel in his reluctant tone, confirming his half-baked words of encouragement. Axel really wanted Heaven to win, and Dominic only took it as his brother's pride and ego. Although winning would be a great feat, Dominic wasn't expecting much.
After all, the amount of the bet wasn't really much. It was just that Heaven already agreed before he could speak. Yet, when Dominic proposed to do the betting with the guys, they refused, using all cunning words to twist the situation.
"Did you wish her enough luck?"
Suddenly, Ivy's voice reached their ears. The three (Heaven, Axel, and Dominic) turned their heads to the approaching beautiful woman. Ivy stopped three steps from them, smiling.
"You two should go back to your seats," she said. "It's time for the girls to prep."
Axel and Dominic immediately frowned, peeling their eyes from her to Heaven.
"Don't worry. If you need help, we'll just be there." Dominic cocked his head to the area where they would watch the match.
"Yes, sis! Don't be afraid, alright?" Axel linked his thumb and index, gesturing an OK sign with his hand.
Heaven smiled as she nodded. "I'll call you if I need help. Thanks."
Reluctance shone in Axel and Dominic's eyes, now looking a lot more reluctant to leave her. However, they still managed to drag their feet away, casting Ivy a death glare as they walked away.
Ivy Wei couldn't help but chuckle at them before she approached Heaven.
"That's new," she said, standing a step in front of Heaven. "Axel used to follow me around, and Dom was always lenient. This is the first time they glared at me as if they will kill me."
Her mouth stretched even more until her teeth were on full display. "Shall we?"
"Mhm." Heaven rocked her head, following Ivy to the shooting range.
They planned to go on two rounds of different categories. First, they would shoot three unmoving targets and then two moving targets. Jeremy proposed they do a third round, which was a field exercise, but Dominic went against the idea strongly.
Standing in front of the panels with surfaces and guns, Ivy flashed Heaven a smile.
"I know Dominic already taught you earlier, but if you have questions, tell me. I don't mind instructing you on what to do," she offered kindly while Heaven just stared at the gorgeous woman.
'Hmm...' Heaven mentally hummed, studying Ivy Wei up close.
Even though she already spent lunch with the woman, this was the first time they had a one-on-one conversation. Thus, Heaven couldn't help but wonder about Ivy Wei.
According to the original Heaven's memories, Ivy Wei was everything Dominic needed for a wife. Ivy Wei was well-born to boot. She was smart and had a successful career. Not to mention, the Wei Family had a close relationship with the Zhu Family for generations now.
Therefore, people couldn't help but compare Heaven, Dominic's wife, to Ivy Wei. Some relatives of the Zhu family wouldn't even hesitate to talk about it bluntly, even if Heaven was hearing it. However, Ivy never did anything to the original Heaven. If anything, she would often humble herself or change the topic if people started comparing her and Heaven.
That didn't mean Hera would buy it.
'If I were her, I would do the same, thinking they didn't need to say such facts,'thought Heaven, putting herself in such a capable woman's shoes instead of the original Heaven's experience with this woman's presence. 'If I were her… I would think Heaven Liu isn't a threat. She might've married Dominic, but sooner or later, Dominic would need someone capable beside him to keep the family.'
Heaven huffed slightly, making Ivy Wei raise her brows.
"I will not know if I won't ask directly, right?" said Heaven, causing deep lines to resurface between Ivy's brows. "Guessing is such a hassle. Do you like my husband, Miss Wei?"
