How dark can you be?

Heaven's excitement gradually turned to horror, considering Dominic's energy. It seemed she underestimated him one way or another. But then again, the pleasure didn't feel as bad as she thought it was. Still, because of this, Heaven was paralyzed to bed.  0

In other words, Dominic had to make breakfast himself. 

They didn't have any servants for the day, as they were all on leave. The only people in the penthouse were the guards outside the penthouse. 

'Should I regret sending everyone home?' Heaven wondered, staring at the ceiling blankly. 'Or am I grateful I did the right call?'

After all, there was no telling whether Dominic would unleash the beast within him or continue suppressing it if there were servants outside the master's bedroom. Knowing him, it was definitely the former. 

'Sometimes, he doesn't care about the servants in his home.'A deep exhale escaped her mouth, closing her eyes to rest them. 'Because for him, they were paid to be mute, blind, and deaf to what was going on within the home.'

If they didn't like what they were seeing, they were responsible for looking away. Dominic rarely adjusted in his own home. Though he was usually tamed, he always find himself in a dilemma whenever his wife was around.

"But then again, he's always like this," she murmured, reopening her eyes only to see the same ceiling she was staring at moments ago. "If my memory serves right, he was blunt enough to mention sex when we put off the talk for divorce."

"Gosh… I think he's been so gentle that I overlooked this side of him," she continued in the same tone. "I really need to work on myself again."

Heaven sighed for the umpteenth time, lying on the bed like a dead fish. She hadn't even moved an inch since Dominic left to make her breakfast. But after last night and this morning, she realized one thing. 

Dominic wasn't always the man she perceived him to be. 

He wasn't always gentle, especially when he was aroused to a certain degree. Although she liked it when he goes rough, it was obvious Dominic's one amazing trait was his sense of self-control. He wasn't as kind as one thought he would be, but rather, he was simply disciplined to take action accordingly. 

She should have noticed it earlier. 

She should've taken notice when he destroyed little Yun's family, that time with Andrea Ng, and all those incidents in the past. Considering the influence he had over this country, Dominic couldn't lose his self-control. And this fact somehow worried her… and for sure, many people as well.

'Maybe, I'm just overthinking,'she thought, recalling her husband's new business venture. 'The dissatisfaction he received from the people who were already in the mining business wasn't just because of the fact they had to share this piece of pie with an outsider.'

"It was the fact this will be another addition to his existing power and influence."

The corner of her mouth curved down at the thought of the scenarios flashing in her head. She lost her mother because of her interest in a particular diamond. Although her mother died because some people used her interest to trap her, which led to her death, the thought that Dominic might go down the same path raised all the emergency bells in her head. 

Her mother, Felice and Dominic, were somewhat the same, after all. 

Both were powerful figures. Their influence was something that was known to many people, and people like Dominic and Felice were the types others wanted to drag down to the pits of hell. 

CREAK…

Heaven's train of thoughts halted upon the creak of the door. Turning her head, she caught Dominic entering while carrying a tray. 

'I couldn't save her,' she thought. 'But I will definitely make sure you won't end up dead just like her.'

"Breakfast in bed," he announced in a low tone, placing the tray on the bedside table. "Let me help you."

Dominic gently assisted her to sit up, placing pillows against the headboard before helping her rest her back on it. He then diligently picked up the tray, placing it over her legs before sitting on the edge of the bed. 

"I did my best," he said, shrugging as he glanced at the breakfast on the tray. "It's not as good as yours, but I hope you will like it."

"I think it's my first time to make you breakfast," he added, smiling proudly. 

"Did you purposely paralyze me in bed to make me breakfast?" she teased with a playful pout. "You didn't have to, though. I can just watch you while you make one."

"I'm afraid I won't be making breakfast if that happens." He cast her a knowing look, making her chuckle while shaking her head. "Go eat. You need energy for the day."

Heaven didn't respond, but simply gazed at him. His eyes swirled with affection, and his smile was just as gentle as before. But then again, she couldn't deny it now that it was in her head. 

"Dom, can you kill a person?" she asked out of plain curiosity.

His brows rose. "That's… quite random."

"I know, but I'm just curious." Heaven shrugged. "Last night and this morning… I feel like you're different. Actually, I think there were times I wonder if you were the same person as my husband. I don't want to think you have multiple personalities, but more like… I simply chose to see what I want to see and ignore the rest."

She paused deliberately, staring straight into his eyes. "But I realized that I shouldn't just look at your light, but also your darkness. I'm curious just how dark can you be?"

"Can Dominic Zhu kill someone?" she stressed each syllable. 

A moment of silence befell the two of them as they held each other's deep gazes. 

"This is not the topic I was expecting when I came back here," he said after a prolonged silence. "But yes, Heaven. I can… if I have enough reason to do so."
