Will you tell me in the future?
"That guy that was in the hospital the night you were supposed to die isn't Primo Rossi."2
The moment those words rolled out of Tiger's mouth was the same time his five-minute time ended. Coincidentally, the sound of the main door unlocking caressed their ears. Tiger simply lowered his head and bid her farewell before leaving the living area quietly.
Dominic asked about him when he met his wife in the living area, only to receive a not-so-important answer. He didn't press on the matter as usual, and both husband and wife prepared for the family gathering.
Even so, that information Tiger said lingered in Heaven's mind.
'What did he mean he isn't Primo Rossi?' she wondered, narrowing her eyes. 'If he isn't Primo Rossi, then who —'
"I didn't want to probe, but now I'm curious."
Heaven's train of thoughts halted, turning her head to the driver's seat. Since Heaven brought up to him how she wanted to live normally without too many guards with them, Dominic compromised. Which explained why he was the one driving the car with his wife in the front passenger seat. Their guards were still following, escorting their vehicle.
"You've been silent since your talk with Tiger," he pointed out, eyes still on the road. "I know it's nothing just as you claimed, but I don't like prying into your business, especially if you don't want me to. But I'm growing concerned."
Heaven pressed her lips into a thin line, huffing. "It's just that he said something that bothered me."
"Will you tell me what is it?"
"He said a certain someone isn't that person."
Deep lines appeared between Dominic's brows as he repeated her remarks in his mind. What did she say? Dominic cast her a quick look before setting his eyes back on the road.
"I don't understand," he expressed.
"Exactly." Heaven leaned back, sighing for the umpteenth time today. "I don't understand. That's why it's been in my head."
"Why don't you ask him for clarification?"
"Information isn't as easy as that. You should know that better, Dom." She cast him a nonchalant look.
"Is he asking you something in return?"
"Yes."
"Money?"
"No." Heaven shook her head mildly. "Information."
"I don't like that." The lines between Dominic's brows faded as his expression grew solemn. "I'm paying him accordingly, and to me, it sounds like he is exploiting you. Or some sort. I'll fire him later."
"Don't." Another sigh slipped past her nostrils, warranting another quick look from him. "Don't worry, darling. The reason he's acting like that is that of me. I told him I'll answer any of his questions if he gives me a satisfactory answer."
"Answer..." Dominic ran his tongue across his inner cheek, pondering whether he should ask or not.
Heaven cast him a side-eye upon his momentary silence. "I told him to dig up Kaiden Wang."
"Hmm?"
"I'm sorry, darling. I was worried about your new business venture. After knowing Kaiden Wang is the one who urged you to enter the market, I was a little concerned," she confessed, as this information was something she could give away.
Spending a few days with Dominic alone was a learning phase for her. She learned many things about her husband, and at the same time, realized Dominic was always curious about her. Being completely truthful to him was still something she was reluctant. However, she thought she could do it slowly. After all, she didn't want to lose Dominic's trust completely.
Heaven should try. Baby steps.
"I didn't know you were that bothered by this new business venture, but Kaiden Wang didn't force me to do it." Dominic broke his momentary silence, casting her a side-eye. "So? Did he get any information about Kaiden Wang?"
"He didn't even start digging yet."
"How irresponsible."
"It's okay. I'm not expecting much from him, but rather, I want him to move around and use his brain as an exercise. He's the laziest bodyguard you have, after all."
"Mhm. Dane figured."
"I'm even surprised you haven't fired him."
"Because I believe he is more than what he portrays himself to be," he explained, earning her undivided attention. "I think he's more than capable of keeping me safe, but at the same time, I won't deny I'm sometimes worried."
"Of?"
"That keeping a person like him might put me in more danger."
Heaven kept her eyes on her husband's side profile, studying his naturally sharp features. 'If I met him before, we'll surely get along,' came a thought as she slowly realized Dominic was sharper than she expected him to be.
It was just that Dominic chose to keep his thoughts to himself. He still observed the situation and people, regardless of his silence. And by that, she meant including her.
"Tiger, Gray, Princess, and Fig were the people Mr. Cruel recommended. I believe he won't recommend them if he deems them useless. However, he also told me beforehand that they were quite a piece of work to have around," continued Dominic with the same deep baritone. "Although he put a few good words about Princess, I'm still keeping an eye on the other two. So far, Fig and Gray were tolerable despite the chefs and Miriam complaining about Fig's monstrous appetite."
Dominic paused for a moment, stopping at the red light before facing his wife. "I have a question. You can answer them if you want. Do you also know those four?" he asked without a trace of reluctance, recalling how his wife reacted the same way she did toward Bear upon meeting the old man.
The husband and wife stared at each other in silence while the red light shone upon their side profile. Heaven kept her lips drawn into a thin line, aware he was taking advantage of the 'getting-to-know' of each other more.
"Yes," she breathed out after a moment. "I know them just like how I know Bear Cruel and our situation is the same as the situation I had with Mr. Cruel. I know them, but they don't know me."
Dominic was quiet, studying the look on her face. Again, she looked honest, but at the same time, it still didn't make sense to him. He would understand if those people knew his wife, considering she was a well-known celebrity. But not the other way around.
"Will I ever get to know the truth in the future?" he inquired after another minute of silence.
"If fate allows it." She shrugged. "But honestly, I'm scared to give the truth."
"Why?"
"Because I always lose people whenever the truth comes. I don't want to lose you, especially Basti. You love me now, but I'm terrified you might not in the future."
And at that moment, the green light shone upon them, followed by honks as their vehicle didn't move for a while.
