Silas
Heaven instinctively rummaged through the original Heaven's memories. Nothing in them had this person anywhere in the latter's memories. Her irises continuously dilated, studying the man from head to toe. 0
The man had the same stature as Dominic, and their facial structure was almost similar. Although the person was wearing thin-framed eyeglasses, people could easily mistake the man for Dominic if not for his demure and the tiny mole in his sclera. Those distinctions, however, could only be noticed who truly knew either of them.
'He really... looked like Dom at first glance,'she thought, flinching slightly when she felt Dominic squeeze her hand slightly.
Heaven glanced at her side, clearing her throat as she set her eyes back on the person standing before them. Another deep exhale slipped past her nostrils.
"I was calling you when I saw you leave your car, but it seemed you didn't hear me," said the man as his lips stretched wider. "It's nice to see you, Dom. It's been a while!"
The man's eyes slowly fell on the woman standing beside Dominic. "You must be my cousin's wife."
"Silas Zhu, Dominic's cousin." Silas, the man who resembled Dominic more than his brother Axel, offered his hand to her. "It's a pleasure to finally meet you."
"I'm also glad to meet you, Silas." Heaven smiled. However, she didn't take his hand for a handshake, but instead bowed slightly. "I would love to chat more with you, but Grandma is looking for me."
She cast Dominic a look, keeping her gentle smile. "I'll look for you later, my love."
"Mhm." Dominic nodded, releasing her hand ever so carefully.
"Butler Fu?" Heaven faced Butler Fu, only to see the latter still smiling. "Please lead the way."
"Yes." Butler Fu tilted his head down slightly, darting his eyes between Dominic and Silas. "I'll take the Young Madam to the Old Madam. We'll excuse ourselves first."
With that being said, Butler Fu flashed Heaven a bright smile before ushering her to where Grandma Zhu was. Heaven kept a step away from the butler, looking back to her husband, only to see Dominic's countenance sharpen as he faced his cousin, Silas.
'Don't tell me...'
"You might be surprised how Sir Silas and the Young Master looked alike." Butler Fu's sudden remarks earned Heaven's attention, making her look at his back as they headed to the hall leading to Grandma Zhu's waiting room. "Sir Silas is the son of Sir Lionel's twin brother. They were identical twins. It just so happened that both men took after their fathers."
"Well, that explains it." Heaven rocked her head, as she already guessed it, even before Butler Fu told her this information. "Though, I didn't know Silas is... how do I say it without angering someone?"
Butler Fu chuckled, looking back at her briefly, but didn't stop in his tracks. "A child doesn't bear their parent's guilt, Young Madam."
"Children shouldn't be punished for the sins committed by their parents," he clarified, setting his eyes ahead. "And this applies the other way around, for we are responsible for our actions."
Heaven pressed her lips into a thin line, staring at the butler's back. What he said explained everything. He didn't need to say it directly for her to understand his point.
"However, it is inevitable that certain feelings remain. After all, if the wound is deep, it'll leave a scar that one will carry forever," he added, before staying silent until they reached a particular door.
Butler Fu stopped in front of it, turning on his heel to face Heaven.
"Do not fret, Young Madam," he offered her a kind smile. "The Young Master will be fine."
"I know he will be, but can you blame me for worrying about my husband?"
"No." He chuckled shortly. "But in case you needed to hear it, the Young Master will be alright. It's inevitable for him to be surrounded by people, whether he hates them or likes them. The Old Madam will not invite everyone in here if she doesn't trust the Young Master to keep everyone at bay or put them back in their place when necessary."
Butler Fu knocked on the door three times. "The Old Madam is waiting for you inside."
Heaven didn't immediately react as she just stared at Butler Fu for a moment. There was something strange about his previous remarks. Thus, she assessed him to know if she could ask another question. However, it was obvious Butler Fu wouldn't say anything further aside from what he already said.
"Thank you, Butler Fu." She lowered her head, warranting an even brighter smile from him.
"The Madam is right," he said as she straightened her back, looking back at him once again. "The Young Madam is quite interesting. Very well. You can find the Madam inside. This is as far as I can take you. I'll excuse myself first."
Butler Fu bowed politely once more before unhesitatingly walking away. His gait was neither fast nor slow while Heaven stood motionless in the same spot, eyes on his back.
'How strange,' she thought, assessing the butler's retreating figure. 'I never put so much thought about it before, but he… intimidates me, somehow.'
Heaven snapped her eyes at the door beside her. 'Now, I'm more interested in the Zhu Family and all the drama in it.'
Heaven faced the door squarely, reaching for the knob. But she didn't open it immediately, huffing before the plain look on her face was replaced by a sweet smile.
KNOCK KNOCK
"Grandma, it's me," she announced with a slightly raised voice, waiting for several seconds before opening the door. "Grandma…?"
Heaven peeked her head in, stepping inside carefully as she scanned the room. After a few seconds, she spotted Grandma Zhu in the rocking chair in front of the window. Her face softened the second her eyes landed on the old woman, marching toward the rocking chair carefully.
"Grandma, Butler Fu said you were waiting for me to come," said Heaven, stopping three steps from the rocking chair.
"That damn brat…" Heaven's brows rose as she heard Grandma Zhu mumbling loudly. "How dare he show up here after what he did to Axel? Surely, he's taking after his father. Hmph!"
