[Bonus chapter]Aftermath

The next day…1

"Aren't you going to work?" Heaven blinked as she chewed a piece of grape that Dominic fed her. He was sitting on the edge of the bed, feeding his wife to recovery.

"I don't need to be in the office to do my work," he answered, guiding another grape to her lips. "They will understand that I can't, considering my wife was hospitalized."

Heaven savored the sweet grape that had a tang of sourness. 'I know I shouldn't feel thankful for 'getting' stabbed, but somehow, I feel that way.'

"Hmm? Why? Are you trying to chase me away?" he humored, catching the strange expression that appeared on her face.

"What?" Heaven giggled. "Why would I chase you away when you're serving me as if I'm a princess? Anyway, how's Basti?"

"I called this morning, and he is alright. Axel picked him up this morning."

"Axel?" Heaven furrowed her brows. "Did he hear what happened?"

"He did. Though we chose to keep the incident private for safety measures, the family is aware of it," explained Dominic as he carefully peeled a grape. "Mom and Dad were worried sick, but they were still out of the country."

"They extended their vacation?"

"Mm. They did because I told them it's better if they should enjoy their time." Dominic snapped his eyes up, holding the half-peeled grape hovering over the plate. "They wanted to go back as soon as they heard the news, but it's better if they don't. I'm afraid they will overwhelm you."

Of course they would.

Heaven didn't comment on that as she pressed her lips into a thin line. She had no particular reason she didn't want to see Dominic's parents. She just thought it would be better to rest and think of the aftermath of the incident. It would be foolish to think things were over; she had been in this type of situation all her life not to consider other angles. Though it was more like a clean-up so this incident wouldn't come back to bite her in the future.

"Until when will I have to stay here?" she asked, changing the topic smoothly.

"Until you recovered."

'But I'm fine, though.' Heaven bit her tongue to not expose herself. Her wound wasn't serious. Based on her experience, she didn't need to stay in the hospital as she could just recover at home. But well, Dominic was a worrywart.

'It may not look like it, but he was more of a worrywart than Bear,' she thought, thinking about how Bear used to treat her as if she was the most fragile thing in the world. 'Well, for some reason, I kind of like it. I feel spoiled.'

The side of her lips stretched from ear to ear, opening her mouth when Dominic raised a piece of grape to her mouth. As soon as she closed her mouth, her eyes squinted until they were only mere lines.

"You look happy," he pointed out with a slight smile, curious.

"I feel spoiled." She giggled. "Although I feel bad that your pretty hands were being used to peel grapes, a part of me is happy. Why are you even peeling grapes, by the way?"

"Less hassle."

"Less hassle?" Heaven cocked her head to the side. "Grapes are meant to be eaten with their skin."

Dominic just shrugged and continued with what he was doing. Did he just ignore her? Or did he not want to argue?

"Well, it's not like there's something to complain about. I'm not the one peeling them." Heaven shrugged as she threw the topic at the back of her head.

"Anyway, we might have to move for the time being," said Dominic after seconds of silence, casting her a look.

"Huh? Why?"

"What do you mean, why? Do you want to go back to the crime scene?"

Heaven blinked, assessing how his brows rose curiously. It was strange for Dominic to speak about their house as if it was just another place. That was his house even before he got married, and he spent years raising his son in that mansion.

'But then again, it's not like there are many memories to feel attachment in that house,' she thought, mentally nodding in understanding. 'Moreover, considering what happened, he was probably scared to even step foot in that place.'

Not everyone was like her who could overlook even if someone dropped dead in her own place. It wasn't that new, honestly.

"Also, everyone is busy. So, I decided we move to another place temporarily until our new house is finished," he continued, making her lips part in awe.

"Dominic Zhu, did you buy a house last night?"

"No?"

"What did you mean once our new house is finished?"

"Oh. It's supposed to be our matrimonial home," he casually explained. "I just didn't have the time before, so it took some time. Don't worry. It's almost finished."

Heaven blinked and blinked, thinking about why Dominic wanted a new home. "But why?" she asked when she realized her mind was blank.

"What, why?"

"Why did you build a matrimonial home for?"

"The one we're staying at was a place I bought years before our wedding," he explained in a knowing tone, but her response was a simple tilt of her head. "Meaning, it isn't family friendly."

Not family friendly!? Just which angle in that mansion wasn't family-friendly? There were many rooms and areas they could bond as a family. What else did he want? A playground?

'Is he just simply giving himself an excuse to spend his money?' she wondered, trying her best to stop her face spasm. 'Well, a matrimonial home, huh?'

Heaven pondered about it and the more she did, her lips curled up in satisfaction. "A home where we can start anew, huh? Well, we didn't really have many good memories of that house. I guess a new home is a good start for the three of us." — a place for Hera to live with her husband and son without the remnants of the original Heaven.

"Mhm." Dominic smiled back, pleased that she finally got the meaning of it.

"Where are we going to stay while it's still under construction?" she asked, curious.

"About that, I have a few options, but I want to hear your opinion first. Finish this food and I'll show them to you."

"Alright!" Heaven grinned, opening her mouth as he shoved another grape.

But just as she chewed, a knock came from outside the door before it immediately slid open without a moment's notice.  When Heaven and Dominic turned their heads at the door, the door was already open.

There, entering the private ward, was Old Grandma Zhu with Butler Fu, assisting her.
