162: Aren't you a special one?

Aren't you a special one?

Due to Dominic's insistence, Heaven stayed in the hospital longer than she should have. Not that she had a problem with it aside from that she missed Sebastian, but she understood why Dominic forbid Sebastian from visiting his mother. He would only grow anxious and worried if he sees that his mother was enduring pain.  2

Aside from that, Dominic didn't deprive her of the news that was going on outside. As part of Dominic's countermeasure to avoid the same incident from occurring, Dane screened every single servant in the Zhu Mansion.

Dane got a good scolding from Dominic since Dane was partly at fault. Before anyone could enter the Zhu Mansion, Dane did their background checks and the like. Therefore, not detecting that a felon managed to sneak into the mansion fell under his responsibility. As punishment, he had to do thorough background checks on everyone.

Dane didn't complain as he admitted his fault.

Many things happened right after the incident. Dominic kept going, even when Andrea was taken into custody. He improved security, particularly for those close to his family. Some servants were laid off just because of an off-record misdemeanor in their past.

Harsh as it may sound, Dominic specifically ordered anyone who had bad records wasn't allowed near his wife and son. Therefore, once the investigators found out a particular servant did something unpleasant — no matter how small it was or how long it had been — they were fired.

The aftermath was just like what Heaven's planned.

Disposing of Andrea was far too easy for Heaven to do. However, that would be a waste of time and energy. The pros of disposing of Andrea's corpse weren't beneficial, unlike if she was alive.

And Heaven proved to be right.

The incident opened up an investigation to everyone, and this time, Dominic's people weren't taking it lightly. Heaven could do this on her own, but she needed Dominic's people to learn from this incident. They were too complacent, after all.

"Are you sure about this?"

Heaven's train of thoughts halted when Dominic's cold baritone caressed her ears. She turned her head, only to see the dissatisfied look on his face.

"I don't understand why you still wanted to see her after what she did to you," Dominic continued, sitting in the back seat with his wife. Heaven just got discharged, but they weren't on their way to their temporary home.

Their route was the prison.

"Because I want to talk to her." Heaven maintained a smile, holding his hand between the two of them. "I don't understand myself as well, but maybe… I feel like I won't move on from this if I don't talk to her for the last time."

Dominic sighed for the umpteenth time. His wife had been bugging him to see Andrea for days. Although he gave in after a few days, he wanted to talk her out of it. But she was stubborn.

"Dom, I don't want to carry this weight to our home," Heaven persuaded, keeping her gentle smile at him. "I know it doesn't make sense to you, but just this once."

"Aren't you afraid she might hurt you again?"

Heaven shook her head before the corner of her lips stretched wider. "Is there something to fear if you are with me? What else can she do when she's in handcuffs?"

Dominic stared at his stubborn wife and sighed once again. "I can't really talk you out of it?"

"Just this once." Her smile grew broader.

"If she did something, I will have to get you out of there."

"If something like that happened, I would listen to everything you say," she humored, hugging his arm as she squeezed herself to his side. "Thanks, darling."

"Hah… your charms won't work this time."

"Aww… come on. You're breaking my heart." Heaven playfully pouted, flirting with him to soothe his dismay.

The moment Andrea stepped inside the visitor's room, a scoff escaped her chapped lips. The officer with her pushed her slightly, locking her handcuffs to the chains that were attached to the floor.

Andrea sat down on the chair across from Heaven, looking around the empty room, only to notice that the cameras were still on.

"Don't worry." Heaven broke the silence between them, watching Andrea look back at her with an arched brow. "They were watching, but they can't hear us."

"Hah." Andrea scoffed. "How are you sure about that?"

"Because those models don't have mics." Heaven maintained a gentle look on her face, taking notice of her own movements since her husband was watching. "Of course, you don't know that. You were too busy getting high, instead of learning skills for you to survive in the underworld."

"Did you come here just to mock me?"

"Of course. Why else will I bother coming here unless I want to see how miserable you are?"

"Hah… haha." Andrea could only laugh in ridicule, grinding her teeth at Heaven's audacity. "What a fucking psycho you are."

"Eh… don't be like that." Heaven frowned slightly, not matching her vile remarks. "My husband is watching, you know? If he sees you're being too aggressive, you'll be in deep trouble."

Heaven assessed Andrea from up and down. The latter had bruises on her face and her right eye was bloodshot, as if someone punched her there. One look and Heaven could tell Andrea's prison life was a living hell, and she could guess whose order it was.

Dominic.

"I'm a bit surprised, but I guess you really rubbed my husband the wrong way." Heaven sighed deeply. "Poor you. Why do you have to stab his wife?"

"You!" Andrea's breath hitched, stopping herself from getting up from her seat to pull Heaven's hair. "Ha ha… you and your husband surely suit each other. One is a mass murderer while the other is a psycho. A perfect pair! No wonder your son is a freak!"

Heaven's countenance immediately turned dark. "Mention my son again, and that will be the last time you'll ever speak."

"You —" Andrea almost bit her tongue, breathing heavily as the rage in her heart consistently increased. "Do you think I care about that now?"

Andrea rested her arms over the table, speaking under her breath. "You framed me, and now your husband is making my life a living hell. What makes you think that I'm afraid of death, hmm?"

"I never consider that you're afraid of death. I know you aren't." Heaven shook her head mildly, keeping her eyes on Andrea's desperate eyes. "What terrifies you isn't death, but life. But my husband won't let you die. Am I wrong? You should be flattered. He even funded the medical facility in this penitentiary, especially for you. Aren't you a special one?"
