The taste of her own poison
Most of the people in the production were people Heaven already knew or people she worked with in the past. Thus, Heaven easily got along with them and Paula was not liking it.2
"Wow… this tattoo is huge. You guys are amazing." Heaven was in awe, lying on her tummy on the bed while two women put a fake tattoo on her back. She was watching how they would do it through the hand mirror, in awe at how they made it appear believable.
"Haha." The women chuckled, flattered at Heaven's compliment. "Thanks to your smooth skin, it makes our job easy, right?"
"That's right. Also, your back is quite sexy that it makes it look even better!" said the other prosthetic artist with a grin. "This will last at least three days, but we still need to retouch it every once in a while."
"Three days, huh?" Heaven rocked her head.
The fake tattoo was a huge scythe and a grim reaper holding it, surrounded by little black shrouds that covered her entire back, starting from her nape down to her lower back. Heaven had to do a scene where she would be wearing a low back backless dress that would display this detail her character would be playing.
'I also have one before,'she thought, keeping her eyes on the mirror while watching the other women add little details to make her fake tattoo appear real. 'It was just as huge as this one.'
Having tattoos in the underground was almost mandatory. There wasn't a single person Hera met in that hell that didn't have at least one. Most of them wore tattoos that symbolized the gang, group, or organization they were a part of.
Hera was no different.
As a boss of an underground organization, Hera had one tattoo. Yes. She only had one, but it was huge, covering her entire back. So, having someone work on her back felt slightly weird.
"Hehe. That tickles." Heaven giggled, making the other two stop and smile.
"Miss Heaven, please hold it in a bit. We're almost finished."
"Alright — hehe… hihihi."
Hearing Heaven giggle, the other two women couldn't help but chuckle. The three of them would chat in between, distracting Heaven so she wouldn't struggle so much.
As Heaven busily chat with the production staff, Paula slid her eyes to the corner. In the same room, Paula was also getting her makeup done. She was sitting on a folding chair while others make her light makeup, making her appear as simple as possible.
Unlike Heaven's character, Paula Shen's character was a detective. As a detective, she needed to put on as little and light makeup as possible. Her line of clothes was also simple, having to wear jeans, a shirt, and a jacket most of the time. Though she would do a few scenes where she would be wearing a pretty dress, that would be for later.
'Why is she acting as if she's the main character?'Paula secretly sneered, blinking as the makeup artist finished her makeup. 'Even if she gets to wear all the pretty dresses, so what? She's just a minor character. I just have to tolerate it until she finished all her scenes.'
Paula successfully made herself feel good, bending over to pick up the script on the vanity mirror. Since her makeup was light and didn't have any complicated details, Paula had more time to internalize. She leaned back, reading the script and scene she would do to prepare herself.
As Paula memorized her lines, thinking of emotions she should bring out in this particular scene, her face grew darker and darker. Her frown was deep, turning her head in Heaven's direction.
"Heaven, can you please tone it down?" Paula couldn't take it anymore as Heaven was being loud and so were the other two staffs. "I can't focus on my script."
Heaven and the other two women turned their heads in Paula's direction. The women sported an apologetic look; they almost forgot Paula was in the same dressing room. Meanwhile, Heaven maintained a smile.
"Oh, sorry." Heaven pursed her lips. "It's just that it tickles. I'll keep it down. I'll try."
Heaven then turned her head to the production staff. "Sorry for being loud. I'll keep it down."
"It's okay," said the women, only to chuckle when Heaven buried her face on the pillow.
For them, Heaven wasn't really being loud. If anything, the three of them were quiet, albeit they still made a sound. But then again, they didn't want to blame Paula Shen and deem her sensitive as the latter was trying to concentrate on her lines. Moreover, this dressing room was Paula's, so they have to extend their understanding.
Heaven kept giggling even when she buried her face into the pillow, so the other two would pause every once in a while to let her breathe. They would still converse, albeit they would have to whisper. The two women's impression of Heaven grew better and better, as the latter was quite cool to work with.
'Tsk!' Paula frowned as she could still hear the three, even though they were whispering. To be truthful, hearing them whisper was even more distracting than when they were speaking normally.
'This is annoying!'Paula tossed the script on the vanity mirror, making some things on it fall.
The sudden abrupt noise from the vanity mirror made Heaven and the other two turn their head. The ladies furrowed their brows, darting their eyes between the script on the vanity mirror and Paula Shen. Seeing Paula's unsmiling side profile, the two staff looked at each other.
Meanwhile, Heaven just kept her eyes on Paula's side profile.
'Heh.' Heaven shifted her attention to the hand mirror, looking at the ladies apologetically.
'Sorry about that,' Heaven mouthed, receiving an understanding smile from the other two. However, she could still see that they were displeased at Paula's action, as the latter was showing signs of a diva attitude.
Knowing Paula was growing irritated, the three of them didn't speak anymore. But, unlike the awkwardness in the room, Heaven was rather pleased with the staff's reaction. Heaven didn't even need to do anything to make Paula look bad; Paula would do it herself by being herself.
'No wonder she stayed at the bottom until she got help,'thought Heaven, relaxing her head on the pillow. 'Let's see how long she will endure the taste of her own poison. Oh, this is fun.'
