Simpleton
Axel got a good scolding from Dominic that night while Sebastian and Heaven watched with their snacks. The second young master left that night, crying, accusing the family of three as bullies. Somehow, Heaven felt bad for blaming him, but, well, it was his fault.2
Why did he have to be so dramatic? It was just makeup!
Still, since that night, Axel hasn't come to visit. It had been four days since. Therefore, Heaven was a bit worried.
DING DONG!
Heaven pressed the doorbell of Axel's apartment for the second time, waiting patiently.
"Is he not home? Or was he sick again?" she mumbled, pressing the doorbell once again when a minute had passed and no one came to the door.
DING DONG!
"Ugh… what?!"
Just as Heaven pressed the doorbell for the third time, the door suddenly flew open. Axel still had his one eye closed, looking as if he had just dragged himself out of the bed.
"So you were sleeping? I thought you were sick again." Heaven smiled in relief.
"Ugh…" Axel rolled his eyes. "Did you just come because you think I was sick? Duh? If so, then go away and let me sleep in peace!"
"I came because I need your help." She kept an innocent front, making him scrunch his nose up. "I need to pick up something, so I thought if you can help me."
"Seriously? Me? Of all people?" Axel scoffed, still hadn't moved on from the last time. "Heaven Liu, isn't poisoning my brother and my nephew's mind not enough? You now want to make me your errand boy??"
"But —"
"You think I don't see through the devil behind that angelic face? Even your shadow can't hide your horns! There's a limit to how much a person could be so shameless. You should be grateful I'm thinking of my brother and nephew's welfare." Axel clicked his tongue as he gave his piece to her. "Don't come here anymore because whatever you do, I will never approve of you as my sister-in-law. Never! Hmph!"
Heaven frowned as sadness flickered across her eyes. "Fine. Your brother just asks me to pick up a car, but I guess I'll just ask someone else to test-drive it." She sighed heavily, turning around gloomily.
As she walked away, Axel arched a brow.
"Wait," he called, watching Heaven look back at him with a deep frown. "What did you say you're going to pick up?"
"A car." She maintained her sad frown. "Dominic told me to pick up this car. So, I thought I should take you with me since I don't know much about cars and engines. But it's fine. I'll just ask Bear to test-drive it. I'm sorry for bothering you. This is the last time I'll come for your help."
With that being said, Heaven walked away, only to smirk when Axel stopped her.
"Wait!" Axel laughed awkwardly, watching her glance back at him with the same sullen look. "Haha. Sister-in-law, don't you know how to take jokes?"
Sister-in-law?Didn't he just say he wouldn't accept her as his sister-in-law?
"I wasn't being serious, of course! Come, come in! Wait for me while I go change." His mood made a total 180-degree change, opening the door for her.
"Are you sure?" Heaven furrowed her brows. "But you just said —"
"It was a joke, sister. But I guess it was a bad one. My bad!" Axel chuckled, tipping his head inside. "I'll be quick. Come!"
"Well." Heaven shrugged, coming inside his unit.
"Make yourself comfortable! I'll be quick!" Axel hastily closed the door and walked past her, almost sprinting to his bedroom to change. He didn't even plan on showering.
'His place isn't that bad.'Heaven looked around the living area, rocking her head. 'It isn't as good as the penthouse, but for sure, it was bigger than the units below this floor.'
This was the first time Heaven came into her brother-in-law's place. Thus, she was curious about what it looked like. Much to her surprise, it was rather… tidy. Axel always looked like he doesn't shower for at least a few days. If one didn't know that everything he wears no matter how horrendous they were, was luxury items, he would look homeless.
"I guess you really can't judge the book by its cover." Heaven shrugged, walking around until she stopped in front of the pictures on the wall.
There were a few framed pictures of him driving a car on a racetrack, another in which he was holding a trophy, and then more pictures of him on the racetrack. Her eyes then fell on the stand under the large frame, catching the trophy in one of the pictures.
'I guess he's that passionate about racing,' she thought, bending over to look at the trophy at eye level. 'I wonder why he hadn't been racing?'
Since they moved to the penthouse, Axel didn't seem he had anything else to do. Therefore, he had been frequenting the penthouse until he got scolded by Dominic four nights ago.
'Well… it just so happened we share the same hobbies.'The corner of her lips stretched from ear to ear. 'So, it should be easy to get him to my side. On top of that, he's a simpleton.'
"I'm ready!"
Heaven straightened her back and turned her head in the voice direction. Her face twitched as soon as she laid her eyes on Axel.
"You'll go out looking like that?" she asked as he only changed his pants, keeping his loose shirt and the thick night robe he had been wearing.
"What? Why?" He looked down at his clothes. "It's not bad."
'Of course, because you have a pretty face. But you look like you smell.'Heaven kept her thoughts to herself. "Okay. Let's go then."
"Yes!" Axel grinned excitedly, asking her questions on their way outside of the unit. "Sister, have you seen what car we're going to pick up?"
Heaven just looked at him and smiled. "I don't know, but Dom said it's a limited edition. If I remember correctly, there's only three of it in the world."
Axel's eyes lit up in excitement, almost dragging her so she could walk faster.
