How naive, Axel.
It all started when Axel took an interest in an illegal drag race some time ago. Axel's growing boredom tempted him to race despite his suspension from the professional racetrack. 1
At first, everything was wonderful and well. He had won a few races and made a small connection with the people in these events.
Until a few days ago, Axel went to this event, where he signed up as one of the participants.
He didn't expect anything and, knowing him, he was confident about winning again. Little did he know, this confidence had annoyed a few people. Thus, in the middle of racing, he halted when a few cars blocked his path.
That was where the beating happened.
These people, whom Axel defeated in the previous bets, ambushed him. However, these people were aware of which family Axel came from. Therefore, they cleverly hit him in places he could hide.
"Why didn't you tell your brother?" Heaven asked coldly, staring at the apologetic Axel.
The two of them were still standing outside the vehicle while Axel summarized what happened. Heaven wouldn't let him go unless he does.
"What would I tell him? That his brother is involved in illegal gambling?" he mumbled, feeling like he was shrinking under her icy gaze. "Do you know what he would do if he heard about this? He'll kill me."
"That's better than dying from those guys."
Axel frowned, but he couldn't rebut her remarks. He was not in the position to be stubborn, knowing Heaven might tattle him to Dominic. Worse. His parents and even Grandma Zhu would hear about this!
"Is that why you were sick, then?" she asked through her gritted teeth, making his brows raise.
"Hmm?"
"That day Bear carried you to the clinic. Were you beaten that night before?"
Reluctance flickered across his eyes before he nodded.
"I see." Heaven rocked her head as she ran her fingers through her hair in distress. Another deep exhale slipped from her parted lips, snapping her eyes back to him. "Where are these guys now?"
"What?"
"I said, where are these guys now?" she repeated, stressing each syllable to make it clearer.
"Why?" he blurted out, confused. However, all he received from her was a poker face. "Well, about that… I don't know. I just meet those guys during the events. So I don't know."
"Give me your contact in those events."
"Huh?"
"Do I have to repeat myself every time?" another layer of frost covered her eyes. "Give me your contact. The one who notifies you when there's another race. Give it to me."
Axel furrowed his brows, but seeing the look on her face, he couldn't help but slide his eyes into the corner. He reluctantly shoved his hand inside his pocket, fishing his phone out.
"There," he said after tapping a few times on his phone. "That's the number who texts me."
Heaven took her phone out and checked the number. "Do you know where he lives?"
"Huh?" Axel bit his tongue when Heaven cast him a cold glare. "No. But I know he frequents this bar."
"Okay." Heaven put her phone back and walked away. "I'll deal with them once I finish the paperwork."
"Deal with them later?" Axel mumbled to himself, staring at Heaven's back. "What did she mean by deal with them?"
Heaven stopped in her tracks, making him flinch when she looked back at him. "Don't just stand there."
"Oh… right." Axel dragged his feet, following his sister-in-law to finish her business with Clement.
Meanwhile, watching from the second floor of the office was Bear. He cocked his head to the side, wondering what were Heaven and Axel discussing so seriously.
'She seemed pissed,' he thought as this was the first time he had seen that look on her face. 'Just what did the second young master do to piss her off?'
Bear didn't plan on prying what Axel and Heaven talked about when they finish test-driving. However, it was inevitable for him to know the summary of what happened.

"Sister…" Axel pouted, looking at the person on the other side of the backseat. "You don't have to meet that person. I mean, I already learned my lesson. I don't plan on going in on those events anymore!"
Heaven didn't even look at him, folding her arms under her chest. "Bear, drive faster."
"Yes." Bear picked up his speed, bearing a conflicted look. 'This bar we're heading… this person she wanted to meet isn't Moose, right?'
Bear winced at the thought, knowing this old friend of his was into these sorts of events. The last time he heard, Moose was arranging an illegal drag race. Bear felt his head throb for a moment, as he felt like his old friend shouldn't have let this thing happen.
Axel was a Zhu, for Pete's sake!
'If Dominic Zhu heard about what happened, I'm sure that stubborn felon will serve time.' His expression turned sour at the thought, glancing at the rear mirror to look at Heaven. 'Though I'm not sure if having her know about it was good either.'
'Ugh… this second young master. Why did he have to take part in such things when he can rent an entire racetrack for himself?' Bear shifted his gaze to the other person in the backseat. 'Does he know that the only people who joined such things were mostly felons? It's already a miracle they just beat him up.'
What Bear thought was what exactly angered Heaven. They both knew what sort of people these illegal drag races had, and they were the type who would do anything to win, be it through means or foul. Not just that, but they were people whose greed was insatiable.
"Sister, let it go just this once, hmm?" Axel persuaded, placing his palms together. "I will never take part in these things anymore! I promise!"
Heaven slowly turned her head, facing him squarely. "If you think keeping your distance from them will give you peace, that's where you are wrong, Axel. They touched you once, and they would do it again. They wouldn't dare do what they did if they got nothing on you. Your name… is already on the list of people they can extort once they run out of money."
"Do you think they let you live because they aren't capable of murder?" she added, scoffing at this brother-in-law's naivety. "How naive, Axel. They beat you up because you'd be useful in the future once they ran out of money. Use this time to reflect and understand just how serious this was."
