Chapter 6​​

Lying on the sofa, I pulled out my phone. The top notification alerts were filled with various curses from Xu Ningyu.

I hadn’t even opened them yet, but I sensed something was wrong. Logically, he should be trying to sweet-talk me now. Why was he suddenly lashing out like a cornered animal?

I turned on the projector. Xu Ningyu’s apartment was empty.

This headline jolted me. The zombie outbreak might have already started over the past few days.

It just hadn’t spread widely here yet, and the scale was still small, so everyone treated it as isolated social news.

A wave of fear washed over me. What if we had been out during those days…

Tian Tian clearly had the same thought. She sighed heavily. "Thank goodness!"

Neither of us felt like sleeping anymore after that. We double-checked every security feature in the apartment and scrolled through news on our phones until dawn.
