On day 24 of the outbreak, a message suddenly popped up in the previously quiet complex group chat.
"Dear residents, the property management has received a small amount of official supply support. To better assist survivors, please report your status for distribution purposes!"
The sender was Old Li, the property manager.
This was definitely suspicious. In my previous life, there had been no official support, let alone survivor headcounts for distribution.
I watched as people responded in the group. Some, eager to receive supplies soon, even listed their remaining resources, hoping to barter.
In the midst of an apocalypse, exposing yourself so readily wasn’t wise.
Regardless of whether Old Li was telling the truth, I stayed silent.
Tian Tian and I had enough supplies stashed away to last us three or four years. There was no need to risk exposure for uncertain aid.
Subsequent events confirmed my suspicion. There was no supply support.
