"Zombies are drawn to sound and the scent of humans. What if we lure some from elsewhere?"
Honestly, Tian Tian’s idea was probably the best we could come up with on short notice.
I retrieved a piece of raw meat from the fridge, sliced my palm, and dripped blood onto it. We secured the bloody meat to the drone.
As the drone flew beyond the complex, the sight that greeted me was unbelievable.
The zombies, which should have been wandering aimlessly, were gathered together in groups.
I maneuvered the drone closer. The scent of blood permeated the air, causing a stir among the undead.
That’s when I noticed one zombie was different. Its eyes glowed red. While the others shuffled with heads tilted, this one held its head unnaturally high, its gaze locked intently on the drone.
It let out a low, guttural sound, almost like a command. The agitated horde instantly stilled, then collectively turned and began shuffling towards the direction of our complex.
A chill ran down my spine. Were the zombies evolving? Was this red-eyed one some kind of leader?
There was no time to dwell on it. Tian Tian reported Xu Ningyu’s group had already left their building. Time was critically short.
I steered the drone back towards our complex. The zombie horde followed, moving faster than I’d anticipated.
I guided the swarm directly beneath our building, keeping the drone circling overhead. With that many zombies blocking the path, there was no way Xu Ningyu and his crew could get through unscathed.
But soon, the clanking of metal chains echoed from the stairwell, followed by Xu Ningyu’s furious curses:
"That bitch! I thought she was dead ages ago
