Chapter 22​​

The red-eyed zombie climbed the stairs slowly. Xu Ningyu continued his mindless assault on the door.

I watched the red-eyed zombie stop behind him, tilting its head as it observed Xu Ningyu.

Then, it hissed at him.

Xu Ningyu paused for a split second, then resumed banging.

I thought I must be going mad. Did I just see a look of confusion on a zombie’s face?

The red-eyed zombie hissed twice more. Xu Ningyu remained unresponsive.

Tian Tian whispered, "Jiajia, he’s not listening to the red-eyed one. Do you think that zombie’s getting mad?"

I shook my head. Humans turned into zombies lost their ability to think.

However special the red-eyed one seemed, it couldn't have evolved that level of intelligence so quickly.

But the next second, the two zombies were locked in combat.

It genuinely looked like the red-eyed zombie was punishing Xu Ningyu for disobedience.

It was the first time I’d witnessed zombies fighting each other.
