I will be there for you!
Xi Ting looked at the dishes placed on the table with an impressed and surprised expression. 'It seems that her skills have been upgraded!' he thought.1
When Qin Yan looked at his expression, she felt satisfied with it and said, "Of course".
A smile appeared on her face seeing his shocked expression.
She had confidence in her cooking, especially the meal that she had made.
Today she made only simple dishes but they tasted good and fit for a light meal.
Xi Ting picked his chopsticks and tried the egg rolls first with anticipation.
The dishes looked beautiful and tasted even well. When he tasted the egg roll, he raised his brows in surprise.
The egg roll was well made and was tender and well seasoned. Next, he looked at the soup from the noodles and picked his spoon to taste it.
When he drank the soup, his eyes widened in surprise as he looked at her and praised, "It is too delicious."
Other than savouring the flavour of the dishes, the feeling of nostalgia that hit him was the purpose why he had asked for the dinner cooked by her.
"Thank you. I thought it would be better to eat this as it will give you the energy and help you recuperate faster," Qin Yan said while placing a piece of meat on his plate.
"Try this one too."
Xi Ting ate the dinner happily and was satisfied with the feeling that struck him after eating the meal prepared by her.

After the dinner, Xi Ting stood up from his chair and gazed at Qin Yan, "I have to go now," he shoved his hand into his pocket. He wanted to say something else, but could not bring himself to say it.
He was not the talkative type—he was a man of action, the kind of person who would rather do things than talk about it. He spoke so much to Qin Yan because it was her. Otherwise he wouldn't have said a single word.
"Okay," Qin Yan kicked the leg of the table feeling upset. She didn't want him to leave. She wanted to spend some more time with him.
Both of them had similar thoughts in their mind but none of them could bring themselves to say anything.
Xi Ting turned and walked to the door. Just as he was about to step over the threshold, Qin Yan abruptly got to her feet.
"Young Master Xi…"
"What is it?" Xi Ting stopped, but did not turn around.
With a few quick steps Qin Yan closed the distance between them. She hugged Xi Ting from behind, burying her face in his back. She was struck with a sense of déjà vu: in her previous life, she had hugged him in a similar fashion, using her small, petite body to shield him from harm. She did not regret dying to save him in her previous life, and she knew she would willingly do the same for him in this life, too—she would step in front of him if someone came at him with a knife, and give up her life to save him.
Xi Ting was momentarily stunned. After a moment, he slowly lifted a hand and placed it over Qin Yan's hands, which were still clutched around his waist.
"Young Master Xi…"
"Yes?" Xi Ting's face had grown warm, but he did not turn around.
"Nothing," Qin Yan sniffled, her face still buried in Xi Ting's back. She could smell the faint scent of cedar on him and it gave her a pleasant feeling. In fact, she did not want to let go.
She had to gather every last bit of her courage to take this step in their relationship.
And he had not pushed her away—that meant that he accepted her, right?
Xi Ting lowered his head. Suddenly, his lips curved into a small smile. When he spoke again, his voice was warmer than usual; the change was so slight it was almost imperceptible, but Qin Yan picked up on it all the same.
"Do you want to tell me anything?" Xi Ting turned around and asked while gazing into Qin Yan's eyes. He placed his hands on her cheeks and assured her, "You know you can trust me with everything, right?"
Qin Yan felt the warmth of his hands and her eyes were filled with tears. It seemed to her that Xi Ting had a suspicion about her identity. She had expected this and did not think of hiding anything from him.
She had already thought that whenever she would step into a relationship, she would share all the deepest and darkest secrets with her partner.
But her case now was so weird that it was unbelievable, found only in books or novels. She didn't know how much he knew, but she got a hint that he knew something. However, she was not ready to reveal anything yet.
"Give me some time, I will definitely tell you the truth," Qin Yan promised Xi Ting.
"Okay, take your time. But please don't make me wait for long. I have already waited enough," Xi Ting kissed her forehead gently and gazed into her eyes lovingly.
A tear fell from Qin Yan's eyes as she glanced at the man standing in front of her. He was so good that she found it difficult to believe it. He had protected her in her previous life many times and she had found her best friend in him.
Even though he loved her, he had never crossed any boundaries. He stood behind her as her constant support and backbone. And now she had realised how much she meant to him.
He loved her so much that he did not want to live in a world without her. He disregarded all his other relations for this and refused to wake up.
Now that Qin Yan thought about how he might know her identity and still he gave her the time to adjust herself and bring herself to trust him and tell him everything, her heart was filled with love.
Even after waiting for this long, he still did not force her to reveal anything without her wishes.
As she realised all these things, Qin Yan hugged him tightly again. The hug was filled with longingness as well as reluctance to let go. She wanted to tell him everything right now, but she couldn't bring herself to describe the situation to him. And this required time as this was a very sensitive issue.
Xi Ting understood the feelings of the girl hugging him and patted her back gently, "Don't worry, take your time, I will always be there for you."
Qin Yan finally released him. She awkwardly smoothed her hair, and then abruptly turned and fled into her room. She had to escape—she could not face Xi Ting at that moment.
Xi Ting shoved his hands into his pockets, balling them into tight fists as he strode away.

Qin Yan went into her room and sat on the bed to calm down. Her face felt hot as she was blushing hard. She could not believe that their relationship would progress so fast. A few days ago they were strangers, mainly from Xi Ting's point of view and now, it was like they knew each other for so long. This was unexpected for her.
Her heart was beating very fast recalling Xi Ting's words. He comforted her in the best way possible along with giving her the assurance that he would be there for her.
This kind of protection was missing in her life somehow. Even in her previous life, the shade provided by Xi Ting was that like a friend but this time it was like he would belong to her after sometime.
This was a totally different and sweet kind of feeling. No matter how strong one was, they needed someone to love them, to support them in their tough times and to be with them in their best and their worst.
Even if you are independent enough to deal with every situation on your own, there are times in your life when you feel lonely and want someone to be with you.
Sometimes just knowing that someone is standing up for you is enough, even if their help is not needed. Just knowing that no matter what happens, someone will be with you provides a great support to your heart and your mind.
So although Qin Yan was strong herself, but there would be some times when she would feel vulnerable. Knowing that Xi Ting would be there for her made her excited as well as happy.
She just needed to process her thoughts clearly and organize them to present the situation in front of Xi Ting properly so that he could digest the thing of her transmigration. As it was an unusual thing, it was very difficult for her to express herself.
'What if he thinks that I am abnormal!' she thought.
But now hearing his assurance, her heart calmed down.
