Chapter 933 – Experiments
0The Lightning Emperor remained silent for a while as Shang just waited.
Then, he sighed.
"What's there to do?" he asked with an accepting voice. "I've known it this entire time, but I didn't want to confront it."
The Lightning Emperor looked to the side.
"Anti-Magic doesn't exist. It's just the power of the Abominations. I should know. After all, Lucius taught me a bit."
"He taught you?" Shang asked with a bit of surprise.
The Lightning Emperor nodded. "Back then, Lucius gave each one of us a lesson in Anti-Magic, as he called it, but I was the only one that managed to gain anything out of it."
"I learned how to transform Mana into Anti-Magic. Sadly, the Mana I use forever vanishes, and I can only unleash about 30% of the saved power."
"People know that I killed Adam, but they don't know about the part of the world I destroyed. Well, people over there know, but not people in the Lightning Manor. They also don't know the details," the Lightning Emperor said.
"You can use Entropy?" Shang asked.
"Entropy?" the Lightning Emperor repeated.
"It's what I call it," Shang said. "I need a Mana vacuum to show you."
The Lightning Emperor raised an eyebrow, but he complied and created a barrier around Shang that pushed all the Mana out.
SHING!
The Lightning Emperor took a deep breath when he saw a High Abomination appear beside Shang.
He had accepted that Shang was the Child of Calamity, but seeing him summon an Abomination was still a shock to him.
Even more, the Abomination didn't even do anything. It just stood beside Shang obediently.
The Lightning Emperor hadn't viewed himself as a villain before. After all, he valued honesty and fairness the most in people.
But now, he was talking to someone that could control the beasts that would one day destroy the entire world.
The Lightning Emperor still felt very uncomfortable supporting someone like that.
A moment later, Shang used his Domain of Entropy to split the High Abomination into a bit of Mana and, what he called, Entropy.
Shang's hand moved towards the ball of Entropy and held it.
"This is what I call Entropy," Shang said.
The Lightning Emperor looked at the ball of Entropy with interest.
"We know that Abominations aren't entirely made of Mana, but we never managed to separate the Mana from the other force," the Lightning Emperor said. "Shang, you created something that no one but Lucius has seen before."
"Can I take a look at it?"
Shang nodded. "Keep Mana away from it, or it will explode."
The Lightning Emperor just nodded, and the ball of Entropy flew over to him while the Mana vacuum followed.
Then, the Lightning Emperor spoke several complex words, creating abstract Mana fluctuations.
The ball of Entropy heated up, and the Lightning Emperor furrowed his brows.
He chanted more Spells, but the ball of Entropy just kept heating up.
After about a minute, the Lightning Emperor summoned several devices that Shang had never seen before.
Yet, as soon as even one of these devices touched the ball of Entropy, it vanished.
Another minute later, the Lightning Emperor sighed.
"How am I supposed to test this ball of Entropy?" he asked half-rhetorically. "I've only learned one thing, and that's that it destroys any kind of Mana it touches."
"And, well, kind of everything is made of Mana," the Lightning Emperor said helplessly.
DING!
Shang threw a hard piece of ore beside the ball of Entropy.
The Lightning Emperor raised an eyebrow, but then he noticed that the Entropy was pulled to the ore.
"They're attracted to each other?" he asked.
Shang didn't need to answer.
The Lightning Emperor's mind moved rapidly, and he very quickly made several deductions.
"So, there might not even be a reason why the Abominations come to our world," he said.
Naturally, he came to a similar conclusion as Shang.
"Possible," Shang said. "Maybe, the God can't even control the Abominations."
The Lightning Emperor furrowed his brows. "But he gave you your Affinity, and you can control Abominations, right?"
"Yes, but my control isn't absolute," Shang said.
The Lightning Emperor became very interested. After all, all the Children of Calamity had been forced to remain in the First Realm, and they had no idea about their powers.
No Child of Calamity other than Lucius had managed to become this powerful and learn this much about Abominations.
"I can control and summon them," Shang said, "but I can't dismiss them or stop them from appearing. If I feel an Abomination wants to appear in Aterium, I can redirect it to appear somewhere else, but I can't stop it from appearing."
The Lightning Emperor scratched his chin.
"And you think not even the God can do that?" he asked.
Shang nodded. "I'm not entirely sure, but most likely."
The Lightning Emperor continued experimenting with the ball of Entropy for a while.
After hours of experimentation, he finally managed to learn a couple more things about it, but it was still difficult for him to understand it since Entropy was completely different from anything else in the world.
After that, the Lightning Emperor asked Shang to retell his life story without keeping any secrets.
And Shang did so.
The Lightning Emperor knew Shang's deepest and darkest secret, and he hadn't killed Shang.
There was no reason for Shang to keep anything a secret.
Shang told the Lightning Emperor absolutely everything.
As Shang did so, his thoughts wandered to a person he hadn't thought of in a while.
Talking with the Lightning Emperor reminded Shang of Jerald.
Shang felt genuine care coming from both of them, but their actions were very different from each other.
Shang's relationship with Jerald had felt more like a bond between brothers before everything broke down.
In comparison, the Lightning Emperor felt more like someone that viewed Shang as a friend and a business partner.
The Lightning Emperor wanted something from Shang, and Shang wanted something from the Lightning Emperor.
Additionally, their conviction and power were very different.
Jerald was weak.
He had always been weak.
After having seen what Shang had seen, he could tell that Jerald hadn't been anything special.
With luck, Jerald might have become a Boltling in the future.
However, every single Cloud was infinitely superior to Jerald in intelligence, motivation, and talent.
Jerald could have never followed after Shang, and he knew that.
Jerald also hadn't been decisive.
He should have either told the Lightning Manor about Shang or not done anything at all.
Instead, he created this entire scheme and play for Shang.
And the Lightning Emperor?
The Lightning Emperor was already at the top of the world, and he had hundreds of thousands of years of experience.
Or maybe…
The Lightning Emperor was just more selfish than Jerald.
