I want to enter the Research Organization

"You're turning eighteen this year?" Wei Gouzhi asked the young lady sitting in front of him.

The girl that was barely at his torso before now looked slender and tall.

Looking at her face, he couldn't help but sigh in relief.

Thank God this little devil decided to change her ways.

Jiang Yue nodded and asked about the old man as well, "How are you after all these years, Master?"

He folded his arms as he answered with a bit of sarcasm, "Well a certain little devil ran away so I could only wait for her to come back."

Jiang Yue touched her nose as she avoided his eyes.

"Xiao Yue," The old man suddenly uttered softly this time, causing Jiang Yue to lift her head, "I understand very well why you chose to leave, I don't blame you for it."

He was familiar with the girl's father, Jiang Guo, and he was taken aback as well when he knew about the incident.

He was the one who handled their father's hospitalization for years until Jiang Yue abruptly changed his people with hers more than three years ago.

Leaving was probably her attempt to escape from reality.

Jiang Yue seeing the sincerity in the old man's eyes made her heart warm, "I left because I wanted to find out who did those to my family, but when I found nothing, I stopped and I let myself fall into an abyss. It was entirely my fault. You taught and guided me yet I couldn't even keep my word."

Wei Guozhi was the only elder she and Jiang Xiu were close to when they were young.

He taught her everything he knew and guided her, yet she left without explaining or telling him anything. 

She thought that despite helping with her father's hospitalization, he must have been furious and disappointed with her, which is why she never came up and looked for him. 

But all this time, he never blamed her and even tried to understand why she left so abruptly.

Not only did she leave her sister but also her Master.

Escaping was never the answer and would only make matters worse.

But, thankfully, she could still correct her mistakes.

"Am I... still your disciple, Master?" She inquired, her voice tinted with worry. 

Perhaps her Master had already severed their master-disciple relationship.

"I still allow you to address me as 'Master,' so what do you think?" The old guy spoke proudly, which caused Jiang Yue to raise the corner of her mouth.

"Do you still want me to be your successor?"

"Would you like to?"

Jiang Xiu considered it carefully before shaking her head.

"Does it have anything to do with that Luo boy?" He asked, which surprised Jiang Yue. 

"Ah... no."

His brows furrowed, "Then what's the deal with you two?"

"We're business partners," Jiang Yue said nervously as the old man questioned her. 

It was as though if she said something wrong, he would go find Luo Zhelan and demand that he takes responsibility for her.

Wei Guozhi squinted his eyes but accepted her response. 

It wouldn't be too good to force her to tell him about her relationships after meeting only now when a few years had already passed.

But if that boy did something to his little disciple, he'll let him experience his wrath!

"But I still want to enter the Research Organization," Jiang Yue stated, which he was taken aback by.

"I thought you weren't interested anymore?"

"Did I say that?"

Right, the girl said she doesn't want to be the successor, not that she doesn't want to be a researcher.

Although Jiang Yue had a small research laboratory which she owned when making the machine for her father, she still wants to enter the Research Organization and at least somehow fulfill her promise to him.

"Although I can get you in through the back door, I want you to try your best so no one would dare say a word against your acceptance."

Jiang Yue nodded.

"I'll enter Capital University and prove myself."

Hearing her say that made the old man grin from ear to ear.

"You better fulfill your promise this time," remembering that the other four had been waiting outside, he said, "Then I won't disturb you youngsters anymore."

Jiang Yue raised her brow, "What do you mean, you're leaving? It's our birthday today, it would be best if we could celebrate it with you."

Wei Guozhi laughed as though he was waiting for her to invite him all this time.

"Then get your friends inside."

After Jiang Yue called Luo Zhelan, the other four went back to their private room.

"Xiao Xiu, how are you, child?" Wei Guozhi asked which made Jiang Xiu beam with happiness.

She thought the old man had already forgotten about her.

"I've been good Grandpa Wei!"

"You still look the same." He commented when he saw her smile. 

The four of them sat and the dishes were served not long after.

Qin Zirui and Gao Jing were perplexed seeing the interaction between the two sisters and Principal Wei.

Principal Wei, on the other hand, has been judging Luo Zhelan's every move all along. 

'Isn't that boy a little too close to my disciple?' 

'Why is he always placing dishes on my disciple's plate?'

"Xiao Yue get me some sweet and sour pork," He instructed the girl so he could warn the lad with his eyes, but before Jiang Yue could even extend her fork, another hand had already reached the sweet and sour pork dish. 

"You should try the Sichuan pork, Principal Wei," he remarked after bringing the platter closer to the old man, then he put some Sichuan pork on Jiang Yue's plate as well.

Principal Wei clenched his jaw as he glared at the lad.

Gao Jing and Qin Zirui could only look down at their plate and pretend nothing happened.

Their Brother Zhe is just too bold!2

"Xiao Xiu has not returned yet," Jiang Yue couldn't help but comment as she check the time.

Jiang Xiu had left to go to the comfort room and was already gone for almost ten minutes.

"Huh? But the comfort room is just around the corner," Qin Zirui reacted.

Jiang Yue stood up, "Wait here, I'll find her."

She exited the room and made her way around the corner to the comfort room. 

When she opened the door, the sight that greeted her made her blood run cold. 

Jiang Xiu who was fine just minutes ago, is now laying in her pool of blood.
