Celebration Dinner

"Brother, do you believe those posts on the internet? Yes, I was the one who captured the video in Nightingale's Lounge because at that time I was recording myself going to our karaoke room," Xia Mingzhou remarked in a distressed tone, "I didn't expect that something would happen and I was able to record it. But it wasn't me who posted the video."

Xia Mingyu's cold expression started to crack as he asked, "Then who posted that video at that time?"

"I don't know, Brother. I sent that video to Lai Li at that time and she probably sent it to someone who posted it or it might even be Lai Li." Xia Mingzhou explained, prompting her brother to frown.

"Why is there a post circulating on Weibo that says it was you who posted that video?" Xia Mingyu asked one again.

"Probably because they want to ruin my reputation or maybe they just simply need someone who can take the blame. I didn't do it Brother, you have to believe me. Are outsider's words more reliable to you than your sister's?" she asked, her eyes welling up with tears, "A lot of people are already calling me all kinds of names for something I didn't do. The last thing I want is for my family to believe outsiders' words."

Xia Mingzyu seeing his sister's tears started to fall, couldn't help but sigh as he crossed the distance between them and patted the girl on her head, "Okay, I know. It was wrong of me to doubt you, I just wanna make sure."

Xia Mingzhou nodded and wiped the tears that were running down her cheeks as she said between sobs, "Thank you, Brother."

"It's because you confirmed on Weibo that our family disowned Jiang Yue and Jiang Xiu that people are now turning their attention to you. Don't expose anything on the internet. Anything can be used against you, do you understand?"

She nodded.

"Don't post anything about it anymore; even though we've decided to cut ties with the two, we were once a family."

"I understand, Brother."

"Wait, let me get the door, I believe the others are here," Jiang Xiu said as she stepped out to open the front door.

"Oh, who's coming here?" Wen Liling inquired, not expecting anybody to pay a visit to the two Jiang sisters as well. "It would have been fun if Wan Zhu and the others were here, the two of you just kept using your phones," she said as she noticed Jiang Yue using her laptop once more.

"Aiya, did I hear you say my name?"

Wen Liling looked up and couldn't help but roll her eyes when she realized who it was, "Speak of the devil and the devil will appear. What are the three—" She couldn't continue her sentence when she saw the fourth person enter the room.

Wen Liling immediately stood up from laying on the couch and greeted respectfully, "Mayor Kang, hello, good morning— I mean good afternoon."

Jiang Yue put her laptop aside, greeted the man, and motioned for the newcomers to take a seat, "Mayor Kang."

"Principal Wei invited me to the celebration dinner, so I decided to go, I hope you don't mind," Mayor Kang said, which silenced the others who were exchanging glances.

"No, I don't mind. it's good that you're here. I hope you don't mind waiting another hour, Master said that the celebration will begin around 6 p.m." Jiang Yue remarked, placing a glass of water on the table.

"It's fine, I can wait."

"Diid I hear correctly that you said Principal Wei will be present at the dinner as well?" Kang Jinhai inquired of his father, skeptical of what he heard from the two.

"Oh, I didn't tell any of you, but it was Master— I mean, Principal Wei who had prepared this celebration dinner." Jiang Yue answered Kang Jinhai's question.

"Principal Wei of Capital University?" Gao Tian asked to which Jiang Yue nodded.

"Is this a dinner to honor the students who received the high results in the National College Entrance Examination? So, why are we being invited?" Wan Zhu asked, to which the other nodded.

"All of you were invited by me."

"Are you permitted to invite us? What if they refuse to let us in?" Wen Liling inquired, "I mean, I got 583 on the exam, but I doubt it's enough for me to attend the Capital University's Principal's celebration dinner."

Jiang Yue seeing their confused expression couldn't help but rub her forehead as she explained, "No, what I meant was, Principal Wei hosted this celebration dinner for me and Xiao Xiu so we are allowed to invite anyone."

"Wow, being the Nation's Top Scorer has some perks. Imagine having a University Principal throw a celebration dinner for you— I could never." Kang Jinhai remarked, prompting Wen Liling to chuckle.

"It's not because I'm the Nation's Top Scorer— well, it's actually because of that but not in a way that you think of. Principal Wei is throwing a celebration dinner because I'm his disciple, okay?" Jiang Yue explained to everyone.

"Oh okay, so that's why."

"Ha, disciple— wait, you mean Principal Wei is your Master?"

"Why do you only have to tell us right now? I would have never expected I'll be having dinner with Capital University's Principal." Wen Liling exclaimed, "Holy moly, is my outfit okay? Green Valley University's Principal wouldn't be there, right?"

Jiang Yue nodded to Wan Zhu's question then shook her head to Wen Liling's exclamation, "He won't be there— I think."

"Father, you knew that she is Principal Wei's disciple?" Kang Jinhai couldn't help but ask his father who was having a good time seeing everyone's reaction.

"Would I be here if I did not?" Mayor Kang responded.

"Why didn't you tell me about this?"

"Why should I?"

Kang Jinhai could feel his lips twitch from his father's answer.

"He's the one who told me to invite my friends, so you don't need to worry. Besides, there won't be a lot of people there, it's just gonna be us." Jiang Yue reassured them, seeing that they look anxious when they heard the specifics of the dinner.

Wen Liling, Wan Zhu, Kang Jinhai, and Gao Tian believed her words.

However, when they arrived at the place, they realized they shouldn't have believed Jiang Yue's words because there were already a few individuals there— and they were all influential figures.

On the top floor of the Royal Hotel.

"Congratulations, no wonder the girl chose Capital University so it's because she's your disciple." Lang Tai, the principal of Green Valley University remarked, prompting Wei Guozhi to laugh.

"Don't be too bitter about it. I told you before that you should find a disciple yourself," Wei Guozhi remarked, looking at the door of the venue as he waited for his disciple to arrive.

"You've already got the best one— a perfect score in the National College Entrance Examination, who would believe that? That girl would go down in history as the first to achieve it, and I heard the girl had stopped schooling and only recently returned?" Ren Ping, the principal of Laozun University, stated.

Wei Guozhi couldn't help but laugh lightly, pleased to hear the words of his friend as he nodded, "It's true. I only taught her for three years since she was six then after that we lost contact. If she was able to top the National College Entrance Examination without going to school for a few years, I believe Xiao Yue would be able to achieve so much more in the future."

Ren Ping, who assumed Jiang Yue only passed the exam because she had Wei Guozhi to assist and teach her, was taken aback by his friend's revelation.

He didn't expect it.

It's even more incredible to consider that the girl was able to become the Nation's Top Scorer despite not attending school for several years and that Wei Guozhi had only taught her for three years.

Without a question, the girl is a genius.

And he could only be bitter about the fact that Jiang Yue had chosen Capital University and even the second placer, Jiang Xiu, chose the same.

The sound of a door opening reverberated throughout the space, and the numerous individuals who were already present turned to look around, only to discover that the main character for the celebration dinner had arrived.

Jiang Yue let her friends sit at a table first before going to the table where Principal Wei was.

"You're finally here," Principal Wei stood up, beaming at the girl.

Jiang Yue greeted the old man and turned to the other people at his table, "Hello."

"Everyone, this is my disciple, Jiang Yue, the Nation's Top Scorer of this year." Wei Guozhi introduced her to the six people at the table were mostly his friends and notable figures in the Ministry of Education.

A man around 25 years old stood up and extended his hand which Jiang Yue accepted and shook, "Hi, I'm Ye Yun, a Researcher and a friend of your Master."

Jiang Yue nodded, "Hello."

"President Wei mentioned that you'll be joining the Research Organization soon, so you can contact me if you ever need assistance with your research."2

"Thank you."

The venue's entrance reopened just as Jiang Yue said those words.

When Principal Wei saw the people who had arrived, he couldn't help but mutter to the girl, "The two of you haven't broken up yet?"
